I might be biased as I don't like Biographies or History much, but went into hoping for insights. Found a lot of philandering talked about and lots of political give and take that didn't enlighten me. I was very surprised at the conditions that heads of government stayed in during their conference. Even though it is called the Daughters of Yalta, I don't think I really absorbed much about any of them.

OK, I'm cheating, I'm about 2/3 done, but I find the book easy to read, thought provoking, with memorable quotes I have added to my quote book. I am enjoying this series by Kathy Herman and will be purchasing others soon.

An interesting novel. I felt it was a bit too long but I kept reading it to the end to find out how it ended. I believed one thing, then they twisted it and I thought something else, only to be proven initially correct at the end. That to me is good writing.

I've been taught to look at Bible readings from different perspectives. This book accomplished that! I would never have thought to look at the Jesus' last days from the perspective of a dog. I applaud the writer's imagination to get into the mind of a dog.

I really had to slog through this book. Touted as a woman comes into her power, but I felt the main story was about the man who travels to the court of the King in a distant land. I was pretty lost so often, trying to write down the different names for what appeared to be the same people at different times in the book. I even took to the discussion questions and answers to see if there was more I missed and couldn't understand those!

I love Kathy Herman's writing style, but I guess I'm reading this book at the wrong time what with so many tragedies here in the US. It is a timely reminder that there are good people of all faiths and races.

A thriller, but seems highly unbelievable (aren't most of them). No way that one person to avoid Secret Service so many times. Politics can be seedy and this book definitely leaned toward that. There were some redeeming aspects of the characters, and I enjoyed the book, but in the end I felt it went on too long.

Alice and Grant - six years separated, never divorced, Alice is notified by police that he has died. His wallet found in the rubble of a home that exploded, possibly by accident. She goes up into the moors to see the place, unsure why, but it calls to her. There she runs into Max and Jenna (siblings).
Chatting with them she finds out Jenna is Grant's girlfriend and Max is writing a book about the house and ghost hunting.

Fairly interesting. Seemed like it ran on too long. Even though the Grandmother was very ahead of her time in doing what she did, it was still believable, almost. Left wondering in the end where the monetary resources came from to sustain her. I half expected one outcome, but was glad in the end that it worked out as it did.

Overall the book was interesting. A bit sci-fi for me, but heck we now do have AI and it could be embodied in these machine friends. I never figured out where this took place and always thought it was not the US, but toward the end I read bits that made it sound like it was. Truly - the where does not change the book. I felt sad for most of the characters and couldn't imagine the world they lived in. But, then, I couldn't imagine living the 1500 or 1600's either!

Not an easy book to read as the scenario seems unbelieveable and the reader keeps trying to put themselves into that situation, yet we don't have the capacity to truly understand it in this age of instant communication and gratification. Terri did a great job of intuiting how people might react. Not sure how this could span 4 books yet, but since I love this author and her writing style, I'm going to stick with it.

An easy read in that it was fast, but it may make you dislike emergency services for a little while. I found her strength to be inspiring. Also, if you need them there are good resources listed in the book.

Enjoyable, quick read. At first I thought I was shorted when to came to chapter 7 and it ended, but I found that it ended at a good point. Coming from a large family, I connected with both the Mother and the Daughter from whose point of view the book was written.

Main characters are Sgt Guy Poole - a young newly assigned Sgt to the small town of Bexford. Trying to shake off his past. Assigned to work with Det Sam Brock, a man with his own reputation (the cursed detective - all his partners get hurt or die). On his first day they draw a case wherein a body was being buried but due to a lot of rain, someone noticed an elbow sticking out of the mud, so they had a murder to solve. Who did it? I had my suspicions but I didn't piece it all together until close to the end myself. Enjoyed the writing style.

An excellent pocket guide to help those who are sitting with the dying and their family. Found many helpful prayers and a good summary of different religious beliefs.

Enjoyable second book in the series. We are all human and struggle with self doubt and guilt. Yet, with faith we overcome.

I liked the book but can't say I loved it. Often the writing was slow to develop a point. I enjoyed that the books location was Mill Valley, but I felt that I could not relate to the life lived in the time era (I guess I'm too much a child of today).
