Set in NY and Sullivan's Island, SC, Miriam Swanson is a divorced woman with an estranged family. but some great friends. She has a wonderful mother in SC and a crazy talking bird. This is one of the author's best novels. You'll love it.

This novel by Dorothea Benton Frank is one of her best.It is the story of Miriam who refinds herself on Sullivan's Island. She has been living in isolation except for her neighbors in her townhome in NYC and worrying about her "position" on her committees. She comes to some self realizations while visiting her mother on the island. She loosens up and has some fun! There were places that made me laugh out loud and moments that were so touching.I can't wait for D.B.Frank's next book.

I have read all of the other books written by Dorothea Benton Frank and this for me was the best one. I have lived in Mt Pleasant, SC and her descriptions of the low country are very nostalgic.

I gave myself permission to stop this book midway, which is something that I seldom do. I couldn't find a single likeable character. Main character was weakly written and way overdone, story was drivel. I guess this is just not the author for me, as so many people said it was their favorite book written by her.

Love this! As usual, Dorothea Benton Frank tells an excellent story that takes place in the beautiful place that is the Lowcountry!
