Stephen White has always been one of my favorite authors, but he outdid himself with this one! It is different from his other books, but still one of his best! It is very thought provoking and the kind of book that is impossible to put down cause you just never know what will happen next!

I started and put down this book three or four times. The first 30 pages or so did not grab me, and I wasn't sure if this was a book I was going to like - if I even made it that far to the end. But I'm glad I gave it one more chance. Once I got over the initial hump, I couldn't put the book down! It turned into a fast paced thriller that leaves you anxious to see what was going to happen next. It was incredibly different from anything else I have ever read. I ended up enjoying it very much and plan to read other books by this author. However, my expectations are very high after reading this one...

Good science fiction. A lot of psychological manipulations from a patient and a doctor. It explores the idea of planning/timing your own death.

I didn't like the point of view, but the plot was good. Very good read.

Don't let the title put you off - this is typical Stephen White all the way. It is a great read, a real page turner - one you won't be able to easeily put down until the surprise at the end. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves mysteries

(from the inside cover) "What if you could choose when to die?"
This question was what drew me in to reading this quirky, thrilling book. The first person narrative by someone only known to us as "The Man" is disturbing and paranoid. Very psychological book.

Great read! I read this for book club and did not expect to like it. It is a great thriller and the author does a great job of pulling you into the story right away. I read it in just a few days.

I read a lot of mystery/suspense novels, and I can't remember any that truly caught my interest *and* left me with a lasting impression and new philosophical point to consider. After all, I read this type of book as kind of an escape from Important Thoughts, and I didn't expect this book to prompt any soul-searching, but I read it quite some time ago and still think about it occasionally.
When life gets tense for one reason or another, I sometimes remind myself to "keep both skis on the same side of the tree."

After about a third of the way through, I wanted to kill the main character myself! What an unlikeable guy. If you want Dr. Gregory, you won't find him here.....he makes only a few cameos. I was really hoping for a better story.

Be prepared to set some time aside when you start this one because you won't be able to put it down. I've always enjoyed Stephen White's books, but with this one he's set the bar extremely high. Very original, thought provoking plot that will stay with you long after you finish it. "Kill Me" will definitely make my top 10 list this year.

What if you could choose when to die? But once you decide, you cant change your mind. Ever. No matter what.
Welcome to the next step in the evolution of suspense fiction. 'Kill Me' is a brilliantly conceived roller-coaster ride that zeros in on some of the most provocative issues of our time-- the human yearning for connection, and the choices we make about who we live, and how we die.
Relentlessly paced and intelligent, 'Kill Me' brings Alan Gregory face-to-face with the most challenging case of his career. A man walks into Dr. Gregory's practice playing a game of cat and mouse, slowly revealing a progression of deadly secrets while trying to influence how the game will end. 'Kill Me' delivers on all the promise of White's earlier work and then raises the bar in an unforgettably inventive tale of survival and mortality.
This is the book you wont be able to put down; but more the point, this is the book that wont go away after you have raced to the last page.

This was the first Stephen White book I have read. I will definitely read the rest of them.

Unlike any other of White's works I've read!! I was a little disappointed with how slow the first 300 pages were. I had a hard time connecting with this one. It picked up eventually but was not what I've come to expect from Stephen White. Although the 'views' of my home Colorado - were breathtaking!!

Wow! What a read. Very imaginative and unlike any of the others in the series. I couldn't put it down.

Actually a better read than I anticipated. Of course, it helps that he talks about Ridgway, Colorado -- I live 10 miles from this beautiful town. I was hoping for more of a detective type book but it was still a very good read!

White, (one of my favorite authors), really upped his game with this one. Grabbed me right off with the intriguing set-up, and kept me enthralled right to the very well paced ending.

Starts a little slow--but picks up and is a good story.

We have all said it---or heard it---when we learm that someone we love is desperately ioll or has been tragically injured: "If that ever happens to me, I whish someone would just...kill me."

Am reading the entire series of Alan Gregory and this one blew me away. Wasn't too thrilled that the patient was telling the story instead of Dr Gregory but the ending blew it away for me. Would love to see this one in a movie. Think the plot is great and the tunnel portion would make great action scenes and the ending would bring the hankies out.

Kill Me by Stephen White is the 14th book in the Dr. Alan Gregory series. This story is told from a different person's point of view. Dr. Gregory is just an other character in the book. I found this book hard to get into. At the end, I did like the book. But this book did not grab my attention like the first 13 in the series did.

Good book by this author; not a Dr. Gregory mystery even though Dr. Gregory is a minor character. Interesting concept & kept me intrigued.
The main character, after seeing the effects of traumatic injury and illness on a friend and his brother, decides to pay out multi-millions of dollars to a company which arranges to murder the payee once an agreed upon point of physical or mental degradation has occurred. The problem (of course) is that when our guy actually does "need" their services, he's not ready to "go"!
White's usual protagonist, Alan Gregory, is a minor character here and does very little "sleuthing". Until the end, the reader knows much more about what's going on than Dr. G. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as his previous novels, especially as I didn't find the main character all that sympathetic.

Interesting
a very wealthy man desires to be in control of his own destiny...in everything, even his death
A full-speed-ahead absorbing thriller!
Outstanding read. Recommended. Stephen White is a master author of
suspense.
suspense.
Good book. Dr. Alan Gregory is not a huge part of the story - but it is very enjoyable.
This is a fantastic book. It is very face paced and action packed. It keeps you guessing all the way through.
A great read, but not from Dr. Alan Gregory's point of view - this is the story of one of his patients, told by the patient. Definitely fdifferent.
Stephen White may seem a little slow, reading at first, but hang in there. He sets you up for a thrilling, suspenseful ride, full of sharp turns! I'm working my way thru his Alan Gregory series and recommend you do the same!
A fascinating premise and plot, with unexpected danger constantly appearing. And, a thoroughly satisfying ending. Not the customary Dr. Alan Gregory novel, but a very good change of pace.
Excellent read.. my first Stephen White book. Can't wait to read the rest of his work.
This book kept me asking "What's next?" You just have to get to the end and you can't guess the end. Very well written, a great concept.
My mother passed me this book, and as usual she has good taste. It's the first I've read of this author, and I enjoyed it.
A good read
This is a brillant and riveting book. It grabs your attention immediately, gives you a thrilling ride and doesn't release you until the very last page. You never know what's going to happen next. A great thought provoking thriller. This is the first book I've read from this author and I will positively read more of them. I highly recommend this book.
In Kill Me an unnamed narrator makes the biggest mistake of his life, which, ironically, is the decision to end his life. After a near-death epiphany on a dangerous ski slope, the narrator confides to a friend that if he is ever seriously injured or sick he hopes that someone will put him out of his misery. The friend goes him one better and introduces him to a secret group of killers known as the Death Angels. For a one-million-dollar retainer, the Death Angels will kill you and make it look like an accident. When the narrator discovers he only has months to live, he contacts the Death Angels, but, too late, he realizes he's made a mistake. Now the narrator has to outwit trained mercenaries who will stop at nothing to accomplish what he foolishly paid them to do.
Loved it! Another excellent Dr. Gregory book by Stephen White!
Great read, THIS WRITER JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!
Grabbed my attention from the first page and never let go. Very insightful look at how we view life and death. I enjoyed this book very much!!
Good book, easy reading. Keeps your attention!
