This was a fun, sort of campy novel, using a lot of comic book standards - yards and yards of spandex, first and last names beginning with the same letter, powers gained by being dipped in nuclear waste that happened to be lying about in the open, and secret identities. I had a lot of fun reading it and recognizing the tongue in cheek references to comic books and superhero tropes. Superheroes and villians are common in this world and Carmen sees at least 5 on her way to work. They even have designated parts of the city that they protect. All of this is mixed to produce a chick-lit/romance/humorous story. Really easy to read, and hard for me to put down. The heroine and her love interest had an interesting hurdle to overcome - she hunts down and unmasks superheroes and he is one. Yes it does have some superficial characters and Carmen gets very angsty towards the end when she doesn't need to be (sigh, ONLY annoying part of the book but overlookable). I found this one enjoyable.

If you like comic books and super hero flicks,or even if you just roll your eyes when your husband or significant other watches Spiderman for the ninety-eleventh time, this is the book for you. Light, funny parody of the superhero genre asking the question, 'what about those in the incognito hero's life who are left unawarer of their loved one's secret activities?' Carmen Cole, the main character, has made it her mission in life to expose the deceitful heroes and supervillans as a result of discovering her fiance's secret activities the day of their wedding. I read this book in less than 2 days and recommend it highly for post holiday recovery.

Cute story about a world where every town has superheros and villains - but there's only one newspaper reporter who is able to take them all down.

Lots of reviews here and elsewhere complain about plot, character development, etc... but this is just a light fun book that lives up to its intentions and genre. I found the writing perfectly acceptable and had a good time.

Fans of Kristine Grayson in particular will enjoy this author.

Very simplistic, with a weak plot and no character development. I did not bother to finish it.

Starts slow, but very amusing. Worth the time.

Ever read a book and wonder if the author wrote two stories and then just melded them together? The first story is a modern superhero versus evil villains romp with an inquisitive, stunning reporter thrown into the mix. The second is your boiler plate romance novel, with weakness in the knees etc, and not much else.
The plot is interesting, but the actual relationship writing is forced/fake. A good read for the beach.

I found the plot new and intersting. Read it quickly and enjoyed it.
