Jean is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, and a recipient of their alumni achievement award.

Jean was a senior medical correspondent for CNN (Cable News Network), and received the cable industry's ACE award for a series on brain cancer. She has written hundreds of articles for a variety of national publications, including the Washington Post, USA Today and the Reader's Digest. She has appeared on numerous television programs, including the Today Show, Good Morning America and Dateline. Her weekly column, EatSmart, for Gannett’s Sunday supplement, USA Weekend, appeared in 600 newspapers nationwide with a readership of 50 million. Jean still contributes to many publications such as The Huffington Post where she discusses her most recent passion, Alzheimer's disease prevention, however, she no longer writes on a weekly basis.

In addition to her success in periodicals, she authored 24 books on health, nutrition, healthy living and natural, food-based remedies-- two of them being cookbooks. Her success as an author was founded in her ability to accurately translate breaking medical and nutritional research in a way that was applicable and relateable to the average person. Her books continue to be based on the most recent scientific and medical findings.

She received an “excellence in journalism” award for her ground-breaking book, Stop Aging Now! from the American Aging Association, made up of leading researchers in aging. After the release of Stop Aging Now, her readers urged her to formulate an all-in-one multi-vitamin based on her thorough research. By popular demand, she produced the first Stop Aging Now®! Multi-Nutrient Formula with anti-aging vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in 1996. Since then, she has updated and added several other scientifically-based formulas that reflect new research.

She received the American Aging Association's 1995 Excellence in Journalism Award for Stop Aging Now!. 100 Simple Things You Can Do to Prevent Alzheimer's compiles the most recent data supporting possible ways to prevent Alzheimer's disease.

In 1996, she founded Stop Aging Now!, a high-quality vitamin brand, and began selling anti-aging supplements formulated based on the research she reported on in her books.
