Another roller-coaster ride with Patterson -- how wrong can you go? NOT!
Helpful Score: 3
Another great Alex Cross' books. Two sets of murders compete for attention - the death of two young black children who live near Alex' home and the murders committed by Jack and Jill. Very exciting. The ending is shocking, which is typical of Patterson's novels. Don't miss this one!
Helpful Score: 3
One of the best Patterson I have read so far, much better than the previous book, "Hide and Seek"... If you've read "Along Came A Spider", you will understand more of the allusions in this one. Alex Cross is working on concurrent cases, one involving murdered children near his son's school, Sojourner Truth, and one involving prominent D.C. personages in which rhyming notes are left signed by the killers, Jack and Jill. Jack and Jill are cold accurate murderers with no discernible pattern - their purpose only becomes evident as their ultimate target becomes known -- the President of the United States. Webs of deceit and mistrust even among the "good guys" make for a chilling puzzle.
Cross draws well-rounded portraits of all the killers, as well as of Cross and the principal of the Truth School. The most important identities are hidden until well near the end. The murderer of the children (who calls himself "nobody") evokes Cross's most conflicting feelings, and ours as well. The ghost of Gary Soneji haunts this book and appears briefly, I will not say when or how. You won't forget this one quickly...

Another fine Alex Cross book
Abridged, but still a thrilling Patterson gem.
Another great Alex Cross detective novel. James Patterson doesn't dissapoint in his writing style, storytelling and ability to keep you guessing!
Excellent story, great author! Wonderful Read!!!
Alex Cross mystery--the murders of a powerful man and a poor small black girl are somehow linked.
Another very good James Patterson book of the Alex Cross series. Not neessarily "great literature" but a very good read.
I love the entire Alex Cross series. It's a fun and easy read that keeps you entertained. After reading the first book I ran out and bought every book available in the series at the time and read them back to back.
The thing I like about Patterson's novels is just when you think you've got it figured out, he throws in another twist. Great book!
Quite the page turner. Got through the book much faster than usual. Just enough twists and turns to not put the book down. Enjoy!
I love it when I'm surprised at the "kicker"! This one is full of surprises.
10 out of 10!! Full of suspense and action!
Another Great James Patterson Book!!
Good read.
Someone has killed one of the most powerful men in the U.S. Senate - and the whole world is watching. Someone has murdered a small black girl on the mean streets of Washington - and no one seems to care. But only D.C. homicide cop Alex Cross suspects that the evil striking down both the high and the lowly wears the same shocking face.
Great Book!
Another great Thriller starring Alex Cross. Once You start it,You can't put it down.
You won't be able to put it down.
The beginning of this book was a little dry. I kept putting it down and going back to it. When I got to the middle I couldnt stop reading, it got really good. Another James Patterson gem.
COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN.. READ IT IN ONE DAY!
Good book...
I enjoyed this book as much as the first 2.
This was a great book .....But I do like all of James Pattersons books I have read so far.A must read........
Alex Cross is involved in 2 tough homicide cases. One is killeing the rich and famous. The other targets children near a Washington Elementary School. Both are riveting!
Gripping mystery/thriller as always. Third in the Series. I cannot say enough about James Patterson or the Alex Cross series.
An Alex Cross novel. Someone is killing innocent children in the poor section of Washington and someone is stalking and killing celebraties in the capital city. Are the two related? Alex is pulled off the murder investigation of the children and is forced to be an investigator with the FBI on the celebrity stalkings. He is saddened by the lack of concern over the murders of the children in the poor section. How does he make the compromise?
Great book in the typical Patterson style. Is it just me or are his books getting more gorey?
I love all the Alex Cross books. They should be read in order.
Patterson threw me a curve with this one, and I liked it! This time around, psychologist-detective Alex Cross has to deal with a murderous couple who call themselves Jack and Jill. What's more, the pair's ultimate goal is to kill no less than the President of the United States! But who are Jack and Jill, and what is their motivation? Patterson will keep you guessing all the way to the climax.
Loved it
I LOVE EVERYTHING THAT JAMES PATTERSON HAS WRITTEN. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN ANY OF HIS BOOKS.
Another Alex Cross novel (although you don't have to have read the first ones for this to make sense). This one parallels two serial killers- one who kills the 'weakest' of society (children) and one who kills powerful political players-- with the fictional President being his endgame. Great twist at the end- an enjoyable read.
Alex Cross is one of the most interesting characters ever. James Patterson once again scores a hit with me. I am typically a true crime reader but I have read most of the Patterson books and I have yet to be disappointed.
This is the first book in the Cross series that I read. It got me hooked to the series. Loved it.
didn't let me down
Excellent Read! What a thriller!
Great plot twists.
An Alex Cross Novel
Excellent read!
Another great book from Patterson. Excellently written, very suspenseful!
As usual, Patterson keeps me up until the early hours of the morning! (Just ONE more chapter!!!!)
Another good Alex Cross mystery!

Book Description
In the middle of the night, a controversial U.S. senator is found murdered in bed in his Georgetown pied-a-terre. The police turn up only one clue: a mysterious rhyme signed "Jack and Jill" promising that this is just the beginning. Jack and Jill are out to get the rich and famous, and they will stop at nothing until their fiendish plan is carried out. Meanwhile, Washington, D. C., homicide detective Alex Cross is called to a murder scene only blocks from his house, far from the corridors of power where he spends his days. The victim: a beautiful little girl, savagely beaten--and desposited in front of the elementary school Cross's son, Damon, attends. Could there be a connection between the two murders? As Cross tries to put the pieces together, the killer- or killers - strike again. And again. No one in Washington is safe - not children, not politicians, not even the President of the United States. Only Alex Cross has the skills and the courage to crack the case-but will he discover the truth in time?

I love the Alex Cross Novels and this was not a disappointment
I think this is the best of the Cross novels. Patterson makes it a little different than the other books, it has two killers, which he seems to like doing in these books, but his style of writing is better than his other books, as if he put more into this one. If you like James Patterson I suggest you read this one, I think its even better than Kiss the Girls.
Great thriller fiction! So realistic and emotional it's like the reader is there!!
Someone has killed one of the most powerful men in the US Senate - and the whole world is watching. Someone has murdered a samll balck girl on the mean streets of Washington - and no one is watching. This is a thriller by James Patterson that breaks all the rules and shattersevery nerve.
There were two storylines in this book and both were compelling. Although I think the child killer characater could have been a little more developed. It was a page turner and I had a hard time putting it down. However, I was quite disappointed in the ending. It felt contrived and rushed. Even with that it was a very solid and enjoyable read.
Another great Patterson and Alex Cross! Was hard to put down!!!

Loved this series about Alex Cross.
Gripping page turner!
The 3rd book in the Alex Cross Series....
An Alex Cross book.
A child killer is stalking the inner city of Washington, D.C., his latest victim Shanelle Green, an adorable first grader from Sojourner Truth School. This killing is especially unsettling to Detective Alex Cross. Sojourner Truth is the school his son Damon attends, just four blocks from his home.
While the death of an inner-city black child doesn't garner much media attention, another murder is making big headlines. The same day that Shanelle was beaten to death, Senator Daniel Fitzpatrick was found handcuffed to a bed and shot execution style. The only clue the police have to go on is a bizarre rhyme, signed "Jack and Jill," promising more high-profile executions, ultimately targeting the president of the United States. When Cross is called in to help protect the president, he begins to suspect that the two cases are somehow related. As he races to put all the pieces together, the killers continue their bloody rampage, paralyzing the city.

This is the 3rd novel in the Alex Cross series. After reading several other novels in the series, I decided to go back and read some of the ones I have missed. Well, I thought this one was one of the better books in the series. It was written right after Kiss the Girls which I thought was one of Patterson's best. This was before he started using co-authors to help with the writing. It was also longer and more detailed than some of the later novels. Anyone, very readable and a page-turner as usual. This one actually dealt with a pair of nasty murderers on the loose - the titular Jack & Jill as well as a killer of young school children. Both are complex and lead Cross down the wrong path on several occasions. The Jack & Jill part of the story almost reminded me of Vince Flynn's Term Limits where some high level Government officials were killed to promote change in the government. I thought Limits was a superior story, but overall I would also recommend Jack & Jill.
I couldn't put the book down!!!
Another great one from James Patterson; I love the way Alex Cross (the main character) thinks and talks to the reader. Always a great twist at the end!
Another Gea Alex Cross story, by Patterson!!
I definitely found an author that i love to read, James Patterson. This book will keep you reading and wanting more. As soon as I finished it i rushed out and bought the sequel Cat & Mouse. Great book!
I enjoyed reading this book very much.
"Flawless...among the best novelists of crime stories ever." From the best-selling series featuring the beloved D.C. homicide cop, a very well-rounded and fascinating character, as he tries to solve incredibly difficult cases and to protect those he loves.

This was one of the best James Patterson's books I've read in a long time.
James Patterson does it again. He keeps you in suspense all the way through the book with a string of murders including the President of the U.S. I'm always surprised with his unusual endings.
