Not the best chick lit I've read, in my opinion. The author put in a lot of poetry throughout the book and it bugged me a bit. The story just didn't grab me the way I anticipated. The main character, Sidney, is not enjoying her marriage and strays with a married man. Their affair is long yet stunted at the same time. It's very strange and difficult to explain. The premise held a lot of promise, but it just didn't deliver what I was expecting. It just wasn't as good as I was hoping it to be.

Oh my goodness....I read this right about the time I went through something (not quite) similar. I really connected to this character and felt the need to get the book to read it again...which I haven't been brave enough to do yet.
Great read!

Perhaps if the editor had taken her red pen and gotten rid of about half of the contents of this story it would have gone from 'good' to 'great'. As it was, this book became more tedious as it went on. Most chapters included lengthy poems, which in my opinion were nothing more than the author screaming "hey, look at me, I can write poetry too!!!" as they did nothing to move the plot along. There were also pages of asides where the main character spoke directly to the reader, while I enjoyed them at first, I eventually found them to be somewhat unnecessary.
That being said- I did enjoy the character of Sidney. She was funny and I liked her a lot more as the story went on. I also thought the ending, while unusual for this type of genre, was perfect for this story and character.
I would recommend this book- with the advice of just skipping over the poetry.

Fun, light novel about a plus size single woman. Read it at the beach last summer.

Not sure what I think about this book. I liked it, but I didn't care much for the story, if that makes sense.

I enjoyed the asides and the poetry. Some of the poetry got a bit long, but was easy to skip.

I loved the character and her sense of humor. I laughed out loud with her quick wit and her interactions with other supporting characters. That being said, I had a tough time really sinking into the story and plot. I thought her first affair was a bit drawn out and 3/4 into the book kept wondering where the "MEN" part came in because she was talking about just one MAN. The poetry was annoying but easy to skip over. I almost gave up on reading this book, but didn't because I love books and wanted to see this one through. If I didn't have so much stubborness... I probably would have.

Short and simple - did not like this one. Way too much language, sex and the like. I was just darn annoyed that a married woman honestly started an affair with another guy.

If you are a fan of the vulgar, this one is for you.

The main character of this book, Sidney Stein has come undone. But who is going to pick up the pieces?

With her marriage spiraling toward divorce, sexually confident and unapologetically sized-24 Sidney Stein finds herself drawn into an illcit affair with Geoffrey Fahl--not only married and twenty years her senior, but also her father's business partner. Perilously close to falling in love with this man who is so very wrong for her and knowing there's no future in the relationship, Sidney decides it's time to turn her life around.

Newly separated from her husband, Sidney drives into the dating pool. And after numersous dates, a disastrous transitional guy, and reconnecting with a high school crush, she can't help but wonder if it might not be easier to let herself down. But just as she stops looking for the ideal man, someone else arrives...and he might just be everything she never knew she always wanted.
