This is a WONDERFUL series. Very well written with loveable characters. It takes place 100 years ago in NY City. In order to fully apreciate the story line, you should start with the first book and read the others in order. Molly seems to find trouble whether it be at home or away. The books are "clean" and move along. They are perfect for a plane or the beach.

This book is the first since Molly and Daniel married. Truthfully I thought it was just okay. I am not sure I will like Molly being married. Didn't like Daniel's get this and get for me. Sid and Gus played a minor roll in this book, I love their chracter. It takes place in Newport, it really missed the New York. Okay not great.

Good read

I basically agree with Alice's review. Molly Murphy being married only hurts her detection chances in the long run. Things are hard enough without husband/wife adding negative thoughts and behavior. This Daniel Sullivan must be slow on the uptake. After 8,000 or so ignored requests he's still counseling Molly to play it safe. Dumb.

Molly Murphy, now Molly Sullivan, and her husband Daniel, a captain in the New York Police department, have been invited to spend their honeymoon on the Newport, RI, estate of Alderman Brian Hannan in the spring of 1904. Molly doesn't entirely trust the offer. Hannan -- an ambitious man -- has his eye on a senate seat and intentions of taking Tammany Hall to get it. When Hannan is found dead at the base of the cliffs that overlook the Atlantic, Molly's suspicions are quickly justified, and as much as she wants to keep her promise to Daniel that she won't do any more sleuthing now, there isn't much she can do once the chase is on.
