If you enjoyed The Liar's Club and The Glass Castle, you will enjoy Honky. Great writing, funny, tragic, and thoughtful.

A great book. The author's upbringing is both fascinating and depressing. His unique position as a poor, white kid trying to fit in showed how racism and class status manifest themselves in this country. A must read.

Really illuminating! I enjoyed it, and related in some ways, having grown up as a white person in a city, albeit a much more integrated neighborhood than the Lower East Side projects. As a woman, it was amazing to see how different boys' rituals are.

I really enjoyed Conley's examination of the role of race in America. He brings a very unique perspective! I highly recommend this book
