Hissy Fit will actually be an excellent read for those who DON'T prefer a lot of romance in their novels.
There was much to enjoy in this book; Keely is lead character who is smart and good at her job, doesn't take any crap from the man who does her wrong (not wishy washy) and doesn't let others bully her. I really appreciated that Mary Kay Andrews wrote a character that I really liked.
The book focuses on the restoration of an old plantation home which I think many readers would enjoy. But I found myself skimming the last fourth portion of the book once I realized there would be no development in the romantic relationship between Keeley and Will. Their romance consisted of three pages although I will admit it was a sweet three pages.
Anyway, if you are a reader of straight up romance novels I would not recommend Hissy Fit. But for you other readers, I think it would be a great novel.

I dont like to read yearning, burning romances. This is NOT one of those. The back cover has a review that accurately tells it all,"the right combination of romance, mystery, and sharp funny writing." Not one of those themed mysteries either. (I do like those). It is a book with a blend of reality that is refreshing and not painted on screwball dialogue or situations. But you always got to have a dog and a gay best friend, too. The characters are memorable and distinct from each other. Add what I have to say with some of the other summaries and I think you will, get the idea that this book is worth reading.

A good read, especially if you know about antiques and decorating, and even if you aren'tt, it's still fun to read and figure out what things really are.

This was one of the funniest books I had read in a long time. One of the authors best.
Small town people in messy life situations, each following their own drummer. Anyone who grew up in a small southern or midwest town will recognize people from their past. Loved it.

I listened to this book in the car during my commute to work. What a fun read, I couldn't wait to get in the car in the morning & I couldn't wait to head home...and I stayed off the phone & didn't do my customary 'returning of the personal calls' during the commute either. I loved this book from the start. I haven't read Andrews before and now I will order her other books for my beach vacations or when I'm in a mood to listen to something fun & entertaining. I am southern, currently living in Atlanta and TOTALLY identify with the story. I KNOW these women. I liked the little side tracks in the plot. I don't care for stories that are so focused that there are no complications. I loved that I felt Rhett Butler would show up at any moment. It is a typical beach read for me - lots of characters that I could see in my mind. The only character I had a problem with was the Atlanta lawyer - she was supposedly bright but her dialogue was stilted and vapid. I just am not sure any female big city lawyer in a big city firm is going to be that shallow. BUT, other than that, I loved reading this book and I will read her others.

Keeley Murdock is made a fool of at her wedding rehearsal by the groom to be. So instead of marrying the cheating groom, she has a Hissy Fit. Everyone in town thinks she is crazy for not forgiving and forgetting, but Keeley stands her ground.
Hissy Fit is a fun novel about a Southern girl who refuses to take it anymore.

Hissy Fit. Something every person knows a little something about. And Mary Kay Andrews portrays them beautifully in her book.
Of course, at the beginning you can feel that the main focus is on the awkward, employer/employee, man/woman, hate/love, and frustrating relationship between Keeley and Will. Of course, one suspects that in the end they are the couple. Well, not the only couple... you'll see.
Also, Andrews builds up the importance of Keeley's relationship with her Mama, and having some closure after all the years of not knowing what happened.
It is a neatly pulled-together novel that uncovers betrayal, loss, and in the end, love- all while still managing to tickle your funny bone. I especially enjoyed the real-life emotions that Andrews makes the reader feel. Even the embarrassing, hide-under-the-table moments, that are humiliating to the character but are funny from an outsider's point of view.
This light, entertaining piece, is sure to make you giggle, gasp, and even make you goose-pimply-- at all the right moments. :) Enjoy!

FUN! Mary Kay Andrews is hilarious. This is the second of her books that I've read, and they were both wonderfully funny, and fully of great, well-developed characters. The main character is very likeable and someone who most people will relate to on some level.
This is definitely a chick-lit, vacation, read-on-the-beach type of book. It's a quick, enjoyable read. Not too heavy, not a lot of work to plow through it, just an entertaining story. I want to get another of this author's books immediately!

Predictable, cute funny story. It's not groundbreaking or a work of literary genius, but it entertained me as I drove from California to Oregon. There is the usual chick lit romance, with a bit of mystery.
The night before her wedding, in the middle of the rehearsal dinner, the main character finds her fiance and maid of honor in a compromising position . . .
Plus, this book has an interesting sub-plot not normally in this type of literature.

This is a great and quick read, nice and light-hearted. My sister bought this book because we are from Madison, GA, and she wanted to see how well the town was represented. The author did a good job in our opinions, and the plantation house that is being restored in the story is actually based on one that is near where we grew up. I am looking forward to more of her stories!

I am enjoying Mary Kay Andrews books because of the southern settings, decorating, and shopping for antiques etc etc. This one involves a crazy rich man who buys an antebellum mansion for the love of his life but has not yet to meet her. Keeley is the decorator he hires to furnish the house. Fun story with a minor mystery when Keeley tries to find her mom who abandoned her 25 years ago.

Hilarious story of a bride who finds her intended in a compromising position on the night of the rehearsal dinner!! Of course she calls it off, but since HE is related to everyone in town, she ends up being blacklisted! Hilarious story of revenge and healing!
This book is a fast, fun read. Any one who has ever "lost it" or really wanted to, will relate.
The night before her wedding, in the middle of the rehearsal dinner, interior decorator Keeley Murdock finds her fiance and her maid of honor in a compromising position. Keeley throws a hissy fit to end all hissy fits and storms out.
Now she has to deal not only with a broken engagement but also with "financial blacklist" in a town financially obligated to her ex's family. Rescue comes in the form of the new owner of a local bra plant, who hires Keeley to redo the antebellum mansion he's bought for the woman of his dreams--someone he's never met.
Only a designing woman like Keeley can revive her business, give her ex-fiance the comeuppance he deserves...and ride off into the sunset with a man who drives a vintage yellow Cadillac.

This story has all the necessary ingredients for an entertaining read. Difficult to put down because you want to see how the heroine gets herself into and out of the situations. Rather like Danielle Steel in that it's difficult to imagine this happening in "real life", but that's what makes it so entertaining. Who hasn't wanted to throw an honest to goodness hissy fit.............but doesn't because it's not the thing to do?!
Excellent entertaining read that makes you want to catch up on the characters in the next book........and the next.

This is a fun, humorous, and entertaining book. I enjoyed myself while reading it, and found many laugh-out-loud moments. There were several parts that I didn't care for much, but overall it was well worth the time taken to read it.
What a delightful book. I love each book and so will any of you. Great
Fun book with a neat twist! Enjoyed the characterization of several southern cities. Lead character was very real!

This was a cute book! I hated that it had to end. It was a book for southern girls who love old homes and want justice for all women.
I really enjoyed this book.
I really enjoyed this book. The heroine is charming.

Mary Kay Andrews (alter ego of Kathy Hogan Trocheck) was discovered via recommendation from a friend. Hissy Fit is set in Georgia. Opening chapter tells about a bride to be at her rehearsal dinner doing through the motions of greeting all her guests. She then discovers her groom doing the nasty with her maid of honor...that's where the title comes in - she pitches a true southern Hissy Fit. The book is filled with true Georgia charm with alot of laugh out loud moments.
Mary Kay Andrews writes a wonderful story, full of Southern charm, mystery and fun! I liked this better than Little Bitty Lies, but not as much as Savanna Blues - but they were all wonderful fun to read.
I laughed out loud reading this book!
Fun read but I'm left feeling like it could have been better. For the most part, I didn't feel the romance that came together at the end was really supported by the plot.
I really enjoyed reading this book.
Loved IT!!!
A little bit slow to read

The grooms family tries to run her and her interior decorating business out of town but rescue comes in the form of the new owner of the "bra plant" as Keeley is given the job of redoing his antebellum plantation for the woman of his dreams. Very entertaining.

I love Mary kay Andrews. Hissy Fit was hilarious!
This book has shopping, decorating, romance, a mystery and a good plot. Loved it!
When interior decorator Keeley Murdock catches her groom-to-be shtupping the maid of honor at the rehearsal dinner, she throws the hissy-fit of the title, then goes on to salvage her career, return a crumbling plantation house to its former glory, and solve the 25-year-old mystery of her mother's disappearance. Nobody writes a Woman Done Wrong like Andrews.
If you like your mystery and romance southern fried, this is the author for you. And Hissy Fit is one of her best! Keeley Murdock is an interior decorator with a problem fiance, a missing mother, a quirky florist/friend, and a big project on her hands. Southern charm and antiquing add interesting background detail to this very witty cozy.
My first read of Mary Kay Andrews. I liked this book. It had some things to think about, but was still entertaining.
This was a fun read. I enjoyed the main characters and I looked forward to seeing how the book ended, so it was hard for me to put the book down for things like making dinner and going to bed.
A fun, easy read! I loved it and breezed right though it. Cute story.
Loved this book! Very entertaining.
"...oozes the aroma of magnolia blossoms." (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION) So, it's not cigarette smoke you smell on the book.
Just couldn't get into it...
it was good
I loved this book such fun ;o)))) Mary Kay Andrews knows how to cheerfully tell a tall tale almost making it seem like real folks. Thoroughly enjoyed recommend any one of her books for light reading. Followed up my last one with Ken Follet's "Fall of Giants" and am now reading John Lescroart's "Hunt Club" so as you can see this is not my typical read. For the chuckles and giggles it gave me it was well worth my time.
Seroius fun!
very good.
Can't stop reading her books. Wonderful
This book is more of Keely determining what happened to her mother who has been missing for the last 25 years. It's a good book.

Very good read!! Finished in just a couple of days!:)
Keeley Murdoch throws a hissy fit when she finds her fiance screwing her Maid of Honor at the rehearsal dinner. When she storms out of the rehearsal hall, she hitches a ride with Will Mahoney, a new guy in town who has just bought an Antebellum mansion that needs fixed up. He hires Interior Decorator Keeley to do the restoration with the stipulation that is has to be done within six months. Will wants to impress a woman he has never met by restoring the mansion to its former glory in hopes she will fall in love with it...and him. Keeley thinks that is just stupid, but she would kill for the chance to get her hands on that mansion.
This story is billed as a romantic comedy/mystery. I've read this author before, but I didn't find this one particularly funny. It's certainly not a romance. There is a mystery concerning Keeley's mother who ran away with another man twenty-five years ago. Keeley wants to know where she is and why she abandoned her daughter. This mystery does not take up a lot of time in this book. Most of the pages are spent telling us about the furniture that is being placed in the mansion, and shopping for items for the mansion. The shopping and decorating overwhelm the rest of the story. My rating: 2 Stars.
