Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors. It's amazing she can sleep at night with all the stories that must be running around through her head and "High Noon" is one of her best. If you are an avidly Nora Roberts' fan, you will enjoy this book. For those of you who do not follow her, this is a good novel with which to begin.

I've heard a lot about Ms Roberts - Although I'm very specific about my suspense + drama + romance, I have to admit that this was very well written! The romance built up well but didn't overwhelm. The story built well and blows your mind at the end. All in all, I'm glad I invested in the book - a good read and a good time! Glad I tried a new author though I'm not sure I'll go into her backlogs yet, gotta finish up on my Elizabeth Lowell fetish first :) Still, I'll give it 5 stars, easily!!

Wow! Nora Roberts hit one out of the park with this book. The lead female character is a hostage negotiator. When she is called in to talk a potential suicide down, the employer and landlord of the man takes one look and starts to fall. But, of course, there is no easy path and a killer stalks her every move.

Another great one from Nora Roberts. It is a twist on a policewoman and her family. Not just a romance, but a mystery. In a way like her In Death series. Loved it!!!

I thought this book was extremely well written. I also thought it had extremely sad moments. If I were comparing it to movies, I would compare it to "Dances with wolves," or "History X." Both these movies were etremely well written, and extremely well acted, but characters died in both movies that I didn't want to die. Although I thought they were done exceptionally, I really never want to see them again. The same thing happened with this book. Characters died that I wouldn't have chosen to die, and although I think the book was well done. I don't think that I would ever want to read "High Noon" more than once. This was not my least favorite Nora Roberts novel, but it was far from being my favorite.

Phoebe MacNamara decided at a young age to become a hostage negotiator. Now she works for the Savannah Police Department and is trying to talk a suicidal man out of jumping off a building. The man's boss, Duncan Swift, is impressed with what he sees and asks her out. Phoebe is reluctant to start a relationship with Duncan because her life is so crazy at this time. She has a seven-year-old daughter, a high-stress job, and a mother who will not leave the house. But Duncan's quick smile and wit seems to be just what she needs, especially when someone attacks her in a deserted stairway at her precinct.
This romantic suspense tale is a winner. Nora Robert's characters jump off of the page. Phoebe is the glue that holds her family together. She takes her job and her duties at home very seriously. I don't know how she does it, but Nora Roberts seems to deliver every time. She is at the top of my list of books to buy when there's a new one (I've read them all).
She seems to have found a great formula, but varies the characters and story lines enough so that each book feels fresh.

Not sure why, but I really enjoyed this book! A quick read that doesn't bore.
Never disappointed with Nora Roberts. Male lead was a little hokey (nobody's that perfect) but she still pulled it off. Some things were a little too easy to figure out but the ending did leave me satisfied.

I absolutely loved this book - it was very well written as you might expect from Nora Roberts.
This is one of Nora Roberts's older books published in 2007. I really enjoyed the story about Phoebe MacNamara, police lieutenant, hostage negotiator, divorced mother and caretaker of her agoraphobic mother. She attempts to juggle all these things while living in her spiteful, deceased aunt's property as ordered by the aunt's Last Will & Testament.
In addition to all the burdens that Phoebe carries, she is the victim of a terrible attack in her own police station and must find proof of who attacked her.
There are so many layers to this book and many issues to resolve. I enjoyed it very much.

While I enjoyed the story, I really never "got into" the book. Not sure exactly why. Characters were reasonably well thought out, intrigue and fairly well paced - just didn't feel compelled to pick it up and read it when i had a spare minute or two.
This book started out with a fairly interesting tale, but once Roberts gets the reader interested, she starts in with her sex stories and filthy language. I don't know why these authors feel they have to introduce such filth to what would otherwise be a good read. But as it is, this book is TRASH! I don't know what I will do with my copy, but I will not be making it available on PaperBackSwap. I do not distribute pornography!

The book was not one of Robert's best but it was still a very good read. It is definitely worth the credit to get it. It has suspense and fun and family. It is just a little slower and doesn't really have the intensity of feeling that some of her's do.

I just finished reading this book. I have always liked Nora Roberts books, but I would have to say High Noon is the very best of all her books I have read. I usually read until I get sleepy but I did not get sleepy while reading this book. I enjoy the characters and their personalities.
Police Lieutenant Phoebe MacNamara is a hostage negotiator. She discovered she had a knack for it when she was just a child and a violent man broke into her house and took her family hostage. She is also the divorced mother with a seven year old daughter. She meets Duncan Swift when one of Duncan's employees attempts suicide and Phoebe talks him out of it. Duncan and Phoebe's love affair is set against the backdrop of Phoebe being assaulted at work and then stalked by a killer. A good thriller that kept me turning pages to see what would happen next.
A home invasion as a child causes this young woman to go into police work.
This book grabs you from the beginning and keep ahold till the last page. The romance is hott, the plot is intense, and the characters are well rounded. This book reminded me why I was such a huge Nora Robert's fan.

This is the second book of hers where the heroine has had terrifying and violent acts happen to her. I find I can't even read the parts of the book describing these acts of terrorism; I simply skip over them. I found I skipped over most of this book. It turned me off!

Very good audio book. Typical of Nora Roberts, the characters are well developed and the story filled with romance, danger and fascinating people. The narrator is quite good. Enjoyable.
