Imogen Wilson is struggling to develop a research project for her PHD thesis in Sociology. Taking a break she finds herself spending time with her good friend Tamara, who is married to a race car driver. Readers first met Imogen in Flat-Out Sexy, the first book in the Fast Track Series. Imogen made quite an impression on one of the other drivers Ty and he could never understand her name and from then on repeatedly referred to her as "Emma Jean". They meet up again at a party Tamara is throwing and Ty acts on his attraction to Imogen. Imogen who had been secretly harboring her own crush on him, takes him up on it.

I had a few reservations going into this book. I felt that Ty was kind of an ass in Flat-Out Sexy and I wasn't sure how that would relate to Hard and Fast. But....I freaking loved this book!!!! I think Erin out did herself with this one. Imogen and Ty are a riot! By page 90 I had laughed out load so many times my husband and daughter were wanting to know what in the world was so darn funny. Well, my daughter is only seven and I couldn't very well explain the adult humor that I was finding so hilarious. As for my husband, I have dared him to read it. At least the first few chapters. After that I am sure he would be sufficiently hooked and will want to finish it.

Imogen is such a refreshing character. She is completely open and honest about everything. At first Ty is intimidated by her. She seems so out of his league, classy and intelligent. Ty by nature is a risk taker and immediately acts on his attraction to Imogen. He has enough confidence to engage her in conversations and what a hoot they turn out to be! I was completely swept away by Imogen and Ty's courting process. They have the most lively, entertaining conversations and the sex, whoa baby, was off the charts! *Fans self*

I highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance, opposites attract, great dialogue and romantic comedies. Don't miss out!!

Don't recommend reading Hard and Fast without reading Flat-out Sexy first. Not that it's an intricate plot or highly connected characters, but the tone is better in light of the first book in the series.

Great read- This was my first book by Erin McCarthy and I want more! Steamy Romance done right. Likable contemporary characters, workable plot, served up with a sizzle and some fun on the side. Very enjoyable!!

Erin McCarthy has a nice light touch. Her characters really do have character and express themselves as individuals, be it Southern Belle hard ass or New York intellectual. This was a fun and steamy read with just minor flaws. Recommended!

This author is now one of my favorites. I love this car racing series & do not want it to end. I've read the other three available in this series & cannot wait to read Tuesday's story in October. Once you pick up this book, if you're like me...you won't want to put it down. Good read...if you like to read about love & have some hot sex thrown in...you won't be disappointed.

I really loved the first one in the series. This one was almost as good!! I was slightly bored with the storyline revolving around Imogen's thesis and, although it wasn't the focal point of the story, for some reason I just didn't love it. Otherwise, this was a really good book.

Great story in an even greater series by Erin McCarthy! Ty & Imogen are the unlikliest of couples, but truly make great mates. Ty is super hot & Imogen is super smart & together they click.

I'm not into Nascar but regardless this book was really good. Ty McCordle was a sensitive hero and Imogen was a shy almost virgin type. The unlikely pairing of Ty and Imogen was surprisingly appropriate. Apparently opposites do attract! This was as enjoyable as [book:Flat-Out Sexy|2857776], the first book in the series.

I have enjoyed all of Erin McCarthy's books so far. I had heard great things about the Fast Track series, but was a little hesitant because of the race car theme. That fear was needless because the series is great.
This second book in the series was wonderful. I could not put it down. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the characters of Ty and Imogen, and by how well they meshed together being of such different personalities.
I would highly recommend this series, and this book in particular.

4 stars Great story, great sex, wonderful h/h who connect and feel real as individuals and as a couple. Very romantic. Loved how they both weren't afraid to admit their love for each other--none of the usual "I've got to fight this feeling" nonsense. Looking forward to Suzanne's and Ryder's story and how they resolve their differences.

THis is book two in the "Fast Track" series by Erin. It's every bit as good as the first ("Flat-Out Sexy"). We get to see some of the main characters that we were introducted to in Book 1. There's Tamara and Elec (and kids); and Ryder and Suzanne. No doubt Ryder & Suz will become the third story...

This book, however, is the love story between Ty and Imogene. Ty had been dating a blonde air-head when he first met Imogene. Then chemistry takes over, Ty drops the Bimbo at the same time that she dumps him, and he and Imogene take off. And what a hot and heavy romance it is (especially the camping trip).

There was a good reminder for all of us in this story, too. If a relationship isn't allowed to grow, it soon becomes stale and dies. Very sad, but true.

If you like your romance sizzling, then this is the book for you!

It surprises me that I really like this series, as most everything else I read falls under the paranormal genre. Must be the hot, dominating males! McCarthy's characters are easy to like and love, and her writing is never tiresome

I really liked this book for so many different reasons.
In this, the second in the fast track series, book the characters are Imogene Wilson or Emma Jean and Ty McCordle. This book picks up where Flat Out Sexy ended. We get the same characters and a new one in Jonas.
I will dispense with the summary, since that can be read above, but jump right into why I really enjoyed this book.
The theme of getting caught is present again. And the ironic part is that it's Elec who catches them kissing on Elec and Tammy's front porch. These characters get caught up in passion and forget where they are.
I also liked the Shakespeare theme. The author does a great job of linking Beatrice to a modern day female. And the fact that for so long in the book, Ty calls her Emma Jean instead of Imogene, a Shakespearian character. I also accepted him calling her the incorrect name because it sounded southern and they are in North Carlonia.
I liked the line ". . .sometimes logic had no business between a man and a woman but that pleasure always did."
The secret in the book is that Ty can't read because of his dyslexia and he is in love with a woman who is going to graduate school for her doctorate. And when the secret comes out, there is a huge argument that leads to the break-up of the characters. Enter, Suz and Ryder, the matchmakers of these books. I love these two.
The sex scenes were muy caliente, 4 chili peppers. I did feel that the first sex scene was a little too long if such a thing can exist.
There is the usual racing speak applied to all aspects of life, especially sex.
The first chapter started with two quotes from the same book. Only that chapter had the heading. If the author started with it, I expected the heading at every chapter. And this remined me of See Jane Score.

LOVED it... the book was great, loved the sex, loved Ty and thought Imogen and he were really good for each other, there wasn't much race car stuff which was fine by me... but lots of good sex... I'd like to read books by Erin McCarthy that isn't about race car drivers!!!
