I loved this book. All the charachters were well written, although both mothers were very harshly drawn. Lisa Kleypas has really made me a fan of historicals, which I used to never read.

American Heiress Lilliam Bowman and her family are guests at the home of the Earl of Westcliff, one of London's most eligible bachelors. Lillian and Marcus have met before, and clashed over her unseemly American ways. But when Marcus kisses her, Lillian is overcome with a passion for a man she doesn't even like. Even though he tries to stay away from her, Marcus can't believe he is considering taking a woman so unsuitable to be his bride.
Entertaining story with great dialogue. Loved Marcus's apology to Lillian for kissing her. This is the second book in the Wallflower series. I highly recommend it.

This was not my favorite Kleypas book. I enjoyed the characters but at the same time found myself irritated with their behavior. My favorite comment: Marcus says to Lillian..."Queen Victoria herself could not drag a pair of savage brats like you along the path of respectability." Take that you heathen. He obviously wasn't trying to woo her at this point.

This is my favorite of the Wallflowers books. I sometimes find romances that begin with the hero and heroine disliking each other very annoying, but if they're done right they can be great. This is one of the good ones. I love the chemistry between the two characters. Also, Westcliff is AWESOME. If I were going to marry an English lord, he'd be at the top of my list. He's a very strong character, both as a forceful but honorable leader of his family, but also as a sympathetic character, protective of all those he loves (not just the heroine). I highly recommend this. I reread it from time to time when I need something light but satisfying.

It was a very easy read with fun characters. This was my first book from the Wallfower series and I am intrigued to read the other ones. Marcus and Lillian are mentioned in the Hathaway series so it was nice to read more about them here.
Ive only read a few of Kleypas books and I have to say that Lillian and Marcus have the sexiest bedroom scenes. They are playful together and passionate. Like most of her heroine, Lillian is unconventional and out-spoken while Marcus is the straight-laced know-it-all with naughtiness lurking underneath for the right women to unlock. Great dialogue and the plot though nothing special moved along nicely.
Worth the read if you dont want anything too heavy. I can't wait to read the next one about Evie and Sebastian.

lisa kleypas is one of my favorite authors. she writes love stories that have unique storylines. i loved this book in particular. american heiress and wealthy aristocrat have a mutual dislike for each other, but with one sniff of a 'magic' perfume, he can't keep his hands off her. throw in another suitor, a kidnapping, and the feisty dialogue - you will finish it in one sitting.

All I am going to say is that these books are hilarious, simply laugh out loud, my cheeks are hurting, my side is cramping hilarious. I loved this installment and Lilian and Marcus. Her outrageous behavior was so wonderfully fresh in the stifling environment the characters are living in, and it was great watching him reveal this strong, emotional, and loyal personality, and the sheer amount of drama was intense.
Basically, it was great, and I am definitely keeping my copy (like the other wallflower books) to reread again and again and again!

This book, along wtih "Devil in WInter" in the Wallflower series were my favorites.
Characters are well developed and flawed just enough to be interesting. The premise is interesting, kept me reading, and the side stories were fun too. The crisis to conclude the book was a bit unbelievable, but I went with it since the rest of the book was so fabulous.
When I read that the author envisioned Colin Firth as the hero in "It Happened One Autumn" I had to re-read it. Yep, totally believable. Love the Wallflower and Hathaway series.

I'm sucker for opposite attrack!! When Lillian (heroine) dislikes Marcus' (hero) "insufferable, snobbish, and impossible" act... it was fun to read their dialogue. The second book of four series, this is the first book I pick.

Is it possible to love the second in a series more than the first?? If not then at least AS much!! This book was so easy to FEEL. When Marcus was enraged at his mother, I FELT it and even got goosebumps!! Lisa really did a great job on this one, and I immediatly picked up the next on and am on it. I'm already mourning the finishing of the series and I'm two books away!! LOL

Lisa Kleypas continues her Wallflowers series with Lillian and Marcus's story. Lillian is refreshing, and gives the reader a new perspective on British aristocracy. I enjoyed how Kleypas gave her characters more personality and unique qualities; I didn't feel as if I was reading the same formulaic romance over again. The book is a pretty good read, although I did not particularly care for the ending. I know it should come off as: damsel in distress, and hero is coming to save the day! However, I felt that the story took off into a different direction making St. Vincent look undesirable (not a good thing, especially since Kleypas pairs him with another Wallflower in her next book).
Overall impression: good, kind of different because the heroine is not a typical English rose, but has unnecessary obstacles.

Lisa never fails to write a solid romance. All in this series are enjoyable.
Generic Avon stuff. Hero is straight out of central casting, heroine could use a slap upside the head, contradictory and mutually annoying ideas about the value of inherited greatness and making one's one way in the world.
The second in the Wallflower series. I enjoyed it. It was a very quick, fun read. It isn't my favorite book of the author's. But I did love the hero in this one better than a lot of her books. Although not sure why exactly. Just did :) The romance and chemistry between the two main characters is very good. Overall, a typical historical romance worth reading if you want a light escape.

Part of the Seasons Series...her best series....
Second in a quartet of romances involving the self-proclaimed "wallflowers." Lillian is an American heiress in London seeking to marry a peer. She doesn't care for Marcus, Lord Westcliff--he's insufferable and snobbish, but they are drawn together by consuming passion. Yet how could he consider taking a woman so blatantly unsuitable as his bride?

Four stars for this one. Fairly satisfying. I know that after reading the first book in this series, Secrets of a Summer Night, I really looked forward to reading Westcliff and Lillian's love story. Happily I was not disapointed.
Lillian is one of four girls who call themselves wallflowers, ladies who are consistantly ignored at balls and parties. These friends have banded together to find each other husbands. Now that the first wallflower, Annabel, is happily married, attention turns to Lillian. Along with her younger sister, Lillian is an heiress to an enormous fortune--however, she is an American lacking crucial ties to nobility. She's irreverent, ill-manered, and opinionated, she is the last woman that Marcus Westcliff would consider for a wife. He's an earl possessing a very old and prestigious title, and he's grown up under parents who are demanding and bordering on abusive. As a result, he's overly self-assured, stubborn, and commanding.
The romance is very good. I love the opposites attract thing. I enjoyed Lillian as a character--she is someone a modern woman can relate to. Westcliff unfortunately comes off as a bit generic, but I believe this is mostly because the author chooses to focus more on Lillian and her conflictedness. Also, this one was somewhat lacking in actual action--it's mostly dialogue based. Still, it is definately a well recommended book.

I really liked this book, #2 in the Wallflowers series. I love this author.
You started to fall in love with Marcus, Lord Westcliff, in Worth Any Price where he gallantly offers marriage to one of his employees to spare her a return to an unwanted arranged betrothal. In this book he butts heads with Lillian Bowman, American heiress, until they realize they're attracted. The biggest downside to this story is their first love scene where she's quite drunk. For someone so honorable, it seems crummy that he goes to bed with her when she isn't in her right mind. Otherwise a typically well written, well researched Lisa Kleypas novel. Second best in this series.
I like Lisa Kleypas anyway, but when I finished this I rushed to my computer to try to find the next one. Really liking this series...wallflowers rule!
