"Gone" is a more cerebral offering to the Alex Delaware series, with more attention than usual paid to the psychology of actors than the crimes themselves, and yet, in the end, we're left with no real answers, not even anything very concrete as to why the crimes occurred in the first place. Alex seems to be wandering in this one, as he re-evaluates his life, and the changes that take place - with Robin's return and Allison's slow fade - exemplify that. The distance Alex takes makes it hard to care about much of anything except his relationship with Milo. I'll freely admit half the reason I love these books is because of Milo, so getting to see him so much is a joy. It's the interactions between him and Alex in this one that make it readable, not necessarily the mysteries themselves.

Excellent as always!
One of my favorite authors and this is one of his best.

Filled with suspense and a little more graphic violence than I like.

Jonathan Kellerman is a winner - at every level. His Dr. Alex Delaware is a most believable and wonderful character, as are his LAPD buddy Milo and his old love Robin. This book - as do many of Kellerman's - deals with the scum of the earth, serial killers, and their ultra-twisted psyches. Bone-chillingly super read!

An Alex Delaware novel ...Excellent ...as usual

Another great Alex and Milo mystery. Thoroughly enjoyable.
A great who-dunnit. As always, the Alex Delaware novels don't disappoint
As always, a complicated plot in a great format. Easy to read and follow. Will keep you guessing!
This book had some great twists and turns, deginitely Kellerman at his best!!!
Not one of his best, but there is plenty to chew over in this very graphic and sometimes gory tale of Hollywood gone bad.
Typical kellerman; twisted plot great characters, lots of intrigue
This was a real page turner, I had a difficult time putting it down every night. Enthralling.
Good fast and easy to read. Great mystery
Great Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis book. Interesting characters and plot!
Good read. One of his better books.
This book was okay. I was expecting a lot more and thought it dragged throughout.
Not well-paced. Long periods of redundant material.
Another great Alex Delaware mystery. I really enjoy the banter between Alex and Milo.
A slow start to this book, but when it picks up, there is lots of action and many twists.
This is a very creepy and also very awesome entry in the Alex Delaware series. Just when you think Alex and Milo have dealt with the most macabre criminals...along comes a book that proves you wrong!
Alex Delaware is the kind of guy that you'd like to have as a friend.
Lots of twists and turns, but a little tough to start of.
A psychological thriller. An exciting read
Great series. Little slow. Picked up and got interesting near end.
I haven't read of Kelldrman's books before, but I'm going to find some other titles now. The man has a twisty-twisty mind! This Who-Dun-It kept me wondering 'til the very last chapter.
From back cover: No one conducts a more chilling, suspenseful, thoroughly engrossing tour through the winding corridors of criminal behavior and the secret chambers of psychopathology than Jonathan Kellerman, the bestselling "master of the psychological thriller" (People). Now the incomparable team of psychologist Alex Delaware and homicide cop Milo Sturgis embark on their most dangerous excursion yet, into the dark places where risk runs high and blood runs cold.
It's a story tailor-made for the nightly news: Dylan Meserve and Michaela Brand, young lovers and fellow acting students, vanish on the way home from a rehearsal. Three days later, the two of them are found in the remote mountains of Malibu -battered and terrified after a harrowing ordeal at the hands of a sadistic abductor.
The details of the nightmarish event are shocking and brutal: The couple was carjacked at gunpoint by a masked assailant and subjected to a horrific regimen of confinement, starvation and assault.
But before long, doubts arise about the couple's story, and as forensic details unfold, the abduction is exposed as a hoax. Charged as criminals themselves, the aspiring actors claim emotional problems, and the court orders psychological evaluation for both.
Michaela is examined by Alex Delaware, who finds that her claims of depression and stress ring true enough. But they don't explain her lies, and Alex is certain that there are hidden layers in this sordid psychodrama that even he hasn't been able to penetrate.
Nevertheless, the case is closed - only to be violently reopened when Michaela is savagely murdered. When the police look for Dylan, they find that he's gone. Is he the killer or a victim himself? Casting their dragnet into the murkiest corners of L.A., Delaware and Sturgis unearth more questions than answers - including a host of eerily identical killings. What really happened to the couple who cried wolf? And what bizarre and brutal epidemic is infecting the city with terror, madness, and sudden, twisted death?

I don't think Kellerman is even trying to put out good stories anymore. This was a rehash of everything else he's written, but a bad rehash at that. It wasn't exciting or suspensful in the least.
Another Alex Delaware must read
I loved it -
I have read all of Jonathan Kellerman's mysteries, and this is neither the best or worst. Quick read.
Great job, as usual.
Another fantastic book from Jonathan Kellerman!
Nice twist in the story. My first Alex Delaware novel.
Everything we've come to expect from a Kellerman-Delaware book. Not that the formula is getting old, it's just consistently good.
Young lovers, and fellow acting students vanish on the way home from a rehersal. Every chapter is full of twists and turns. One of his best books to figure out who did it.
Another great addition to the Alex Delaware series
Typical Kellerman. Good read.
Alex & Milo at it again. Carjacking, abduction, and abused victims.
Will definitely hold your interest.

Suspenseful 'til the end!
Hollywood hopefuls and a real mysterious disappearance. Great read!
Was never a great Kellerman fan, but this was one book I couldn't put down. Will definitely be looking at his work.
Very good Delaware novel, with lots of Milo and....well, a surprise.
A psychological thriller. Fans of Jonathan Kellerman will love it.
Long-time fans of Dr. Alex Delaware will be pleased with this book. I can hardly wait for the next one!
Good book. Typical murder/mystery.
A really great book. Spine tingling and of course like all the Alex Delaware very good and scary!!

better than the last couple he wrote
I really enjoyed this book-VERY GOOD READ.
Alex and Milo team up to find the killer of a young girl that Alex saw as a consult for "pretending" to be abducted. Unfortunately, the real thing happens and she is murdered. Alex and Milo are frustrated at every turn trying to find out what happened and who is responsible. The truth they find is more grisly and horrible than either of them imagined in their worst nightmare. Good read.
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS ONE,IT WAS HARD TO HOLD MY INTEREST,IF I HAVE TO MAKE MYSELF READ IT,AND THATS WHAT I DID WITH THIS ONE,ITS NOT MUCH TO TALK ABOUT
This story was just ok. His storys get longer but drag in the middle and the ending was ok. I finished because I like most of his other books.
great read
Gone, has Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis out to solve a young woman's murder, they end up finding bizare suspects. Ties up some lose ends for Kellerman's last few books. I enjoyed it.
This mystery writer is one of the best! The bk is brand new, only carefully read once. Real good story!
