This book has two Christmas stories by Debbie Macomber.
~The first story, "There's Something About Christmas", is about Emma & Oliver & fruitcake. Emma is a reporter who has an assignment to write articles about women who have each created a fabulous fruitcake recipe. With the varying recipes (that the author includes in the story) I felt like making fruitcake can be a lesson in compromise. Emma tries to fight her attraction to Oliver because she is afraid she will be considered weak for falling for someone. If you are a dog lover you will like the side story with Emma & Oliver's respective pups! Also loved the part with Emma and the "guacamole"! This story is a cute read.
~The second story, "Here Comes Trouble", is about Maryanne & Nolan. The way the author wrote this story was interesting because the first and last part are set in the "present day" with the majority of the story detailing how they first met. Nolan was not my favorite character because he is wishy-washy and sometimes just plain confusing. He is blunt and bossy but this is how Maryanne makes major changes in her life. Her character is very optimistic about the new future she has in front of her and it is nice to see this character grow and find out who she is. This is an older story by Debbie Macomber and was a little too cutesy for me.

Christmas is a time for fruitcake. Rookie reporter Emma Collins hates fruitcake;for that matter, she hates Christmas, too. When three Washington State women are fiinalists in a national fruitcake contest, the story is assigned to her. That's bad enough. It gets worse when she has to fly in a small plane with a smart aleck piolt and his scruffy dog. In the end she meets three wise women, falls in love and learns There's Something About Chirstmas.

And

Christmas is also a time for...fruitcake. Rookie reporterEmma Collins hates fruitcake; for that matter, she hates Christmas, too. When three Washington State women are finalists in a national fruitcake contest, the story is assigned to her. That's bad enough.
