The second book in Sherryl Woods' Low Country trilogy, this story covers the opposites-attract romance of Southern belle Maggie Forsythe and project foreman Josh Parker. Another excellent read from an excellent storyteller.

Opposites attract, but they don't this is the first line on the back cover. The rest of the book follows this line. A great story about a woman who is left days before her wedding and makes a decision to help build a house for a needy family. The forman knows she is going to be trouble. And thus is the setting for this great book. You will find you like these people and want more when you are finished reading.

Another wonderful book in Sherryl Woods's Low Country trilogy. This time is Maggie & Josh, two very unlikely people to fall in love. Woods has wonderful character and setting development. She draws you into her characters with seriousness and humor. You laugh and cry in just pages. If you liked this book, be sure to read the 3rd & last book "Waking Up in Charleston" or if you missed it the 1st book "The Backup Plan".

A stand-alone book that has connecting lines with the author's books The Backup Plan and Waking Up in Charlston. I enjoyed all of these.

Second Novel in Charleston Trilogy

Book 1. "The Back Up Plan"
Book 2. "Flirting With Disaster"
Book 3. "Waking Up In Charleston"

You don't HAVE to read these books in order, but I would highly recommend it. Main Characters in this book originate in the first novel of the series and there is some backstory told in that book that is an excellent lead in to the reader before opening the pages of this second strory in the triology.

Maggie Forsythe is young, beautiful, educated and floundering. Her art shop is thriving, her friends are "lifers" and she comes from a family of wealth and opportunity.... but she is dirt poor when it comes to love. Having just been dumped by her fiancee just days before their huge wedding, Maggie is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants in life. The problem is that her own dreams and desires are always clouded by what she thinks her perfect socialite parents want her to be and do. The ex? The "perfect" mate for her - at least according to her high end mom.

In order to get her back amongst the living her best friends convince her to help build a house for a young widow and her 3 children. Doing something worthwhile is surely a move in the right direction - right?! Wellllll, it would be if being a do gooder didn't include having to spend so much time with project leader/foreman Josh Parker, super hottie and all around loner brooding type.

Josh is only doing this project because he can, and yeah, the boss asked him to. Now he is stuck supervising a team of volunteers who know NOTHING about building ANYTHING. On top of that his crazy, can't stay in one place longer than 5 minutes, mother has just hit town and is determined to get in the middle of it all. And then there is Maggie - and lets just say that Josh and Maggie are an explosion waiting to happen.... the only question is whether the explosion will wild and awesome or shocking and bad.... one thing is for sure - with a town full of gossips, best friends playing match maker, a society prude of a mom and Josh's ex Vegas dancer mom around - the flirting is deffinately heading towards so kind of disaster!!!!

This one was tough for me to get into and in the end I couldn't finish it. I liked Maggie well enough, but I didn't care about anyone. There were several issues that could have been explored more and made the book so much more interesting, but they were just glossed over.

From the back of the book: Opposites attract, but they don't last. At least that's what improper Southern belle Maggie Forsythe thinks after being unceremoniously dumped two weeks before getting hitched to a man even her mother approves of. Maggie has never given two figs what anyone thinks, so why is she hiding away from her South Carolina Low Country home?

That is until concerned--albeit scheming--friends arrive with three options:
One: Sit and mope.
Two: Go home to her gallery.
Three: Help them build a house for a needy family and make a difference for once.

But one look at Maggie, and project foreman Josh Parker knows what kind of sweet-tea-swilling debutante he's dealing with. Even if she does know her way around a circular saw. Sure, they have enough sparks to ignite a bonfire, but he's corn bread to her caviar. And if there's anything he's learned from growing up broke, it's better to aim low than risk everything and lose.

More intelligent than most romance books, this is a story about two people from different backgrounds who have committment issues. The second in a series.
