Another fast-paced story, lots of action, and another new character. Adam's pack is certainly getting diverse - gives Briggs a lot of plot options. Liked the negotiations with the fae, that conflict was getting a little old, so perhaps this will close that chapter and move on. Mercy does not end up badly injured for once. I didn't find the "girl talk" between Mercy and the fae woman Margaret believable. All in all though, another good entry in the series and I'm still happy to look forward to the next.

I loved it but I'm so confused, it's been over a year since I'd read the last book and since then I can't remember some of the events that's already took place nor can I remember how Joel came to be a lava god and a pack :( but still had adventure and a few fights that Mercy and her mate had to face with a new comer from Underhill (the world of fae used to live) and the anciboy is hunted down but Mercy and Adam will keep him and their city save even without the help from her foster Uncle Bran....

Another amazing entry in my favorite urban fantasy series. I'm trying to think about why I enjoy the Mercy stories so much, and I think that along with the exotic monsters from a variety of cultures, it is because the characters are realistic while doing fantastic things. Mercy is tough and strong and vulnerable. Adam is loyal and fierce and dresses to minimize his good looks. The "broken" characters have key roles that show their strengths. Along with action scenes, Briggs writes about a community that can handle internal conflict well and shows how their connections work for the best of all.

I love that this series is still good. I enjoyed the focus on Adam, Mercy & Jessie in this book, rather than all of the pack politics. And I'm so happy Adam FINALLY shut the pack down from disrespecting Mercy-that story line was getting tired considering how often she has saved their lives.

This was an improvement from the last book. Finally the pack fully accepts Mercy as one of their own. That constant pettiness and disrespect toward her was really, really aggravating. Let's hope it continues since that respect has been hard won. This opens with a troll invading their territory and a proclamation that Mercy makes. Zee and Tad are back. We are introduced to Aiden, a boy who has lived in Underhill for a very time that has ability over fire. There are new developments that happen with the fae.
