This is a really compelling mystery that unfortunately used about 40% more words than needed to tell the story. It pushes 500 pages when 300 could've easily done the job. There's just too much happening all over the place, and the writer seems to keep repeating thoughts incessantly. Yes, yes, we know, she thinks she should've done that differently. You told us that 20 pages ago. And 15. And 13. And 10, twice. And...
Too bad, because the main antagonist really did cobble together a good plan, and the ending is somewhat satisfying (partially for its realism... not everyone lives). Too many readers are going to give up trying to get there, though.
If you like really complex mysteries and have patience, this is your book.

After reading just under 100 pages I had to give up on this book. It was a very slooooooooooooooooooow read, and the author just couldn't connect.
There's quite a bit of death and destruction, but it's a well written interesting story with good characters.
