Andrew Vachss is one of my fave authors hes so brutal and honest in his writing, and his characters are almost always criminals with a sense of honour. This is a collection of short stories, plus a novella, some about Cross and his crew (basically a gang of bizarre characters who merc out different jobs), some about others, and some about a semi-scifi setting called The Underground. Quite good stuff, I enjoyed most of the stories. He has a brutal sense of humour and it shows in his writing.
