In typical Deaver fashion, you will find that the people are not what you think in the beginning!

Deaver's books are always the same: one plot twist after another. Just as you think you've figured it out, another twist. And this book takes the prize for the most twists, all the way through the last page. GREAT read!

One of the best books I have ever read in my life. Action, intrigue and the surprises keep coming even after the end!

One of the best thrillers I've ever read. The hero is a self deprecating and totally focused hero, a shepherd intent on saving the lives of those he is protecting from an assassin hired by someone who wants to extract information. The plot is original, the action plausible with attention to detail. Edge refers to being able to threaten manipulate or coerce another, forcing their cooperation. Complex, low key in places and VERY intense in others. An outstanding read!

Another good action thriller from Deaver. I've read several of his books including both stand-alone novels and his Lincoln Rhyme series and have enjoyed them all. I think Deaver is one of the best writers who can put a good twist into a story. EDGE was no exception! This novel is a stand-alone about a "shepherd" who works for a secret government agency and is in charge of protecting a family from an unknown who is out to extract information from someone in the family. Deaver leads us down several different paths until the conclusion when it is revealed who the primary person is and what information is so important. The characters in this novel were also well-developed and interesting. Overall, another high recommendation for this and any Deaver thriller.

AMAZING BOOK!

This book was fantastic. It had all kinds of twists and turns that really were very unexpected. Just when you thought you knew where it was headed, it turned again. Absolutely spell binding. I found myself anxious to get my little one in bed so I could get back to reading. I wish that the author had more books with this particular character. I highly recommend it.

Great storytelling! There were more twists and turns than a drunken snake...right through to the end. Excellent book.

I've read a lot of Jeffrey Deaver books and think this is one of his best. He really gets you into the mind of the man who both protects his subjects and tracks the killer out to get them. The mind games he plays with the killer are genius; the twists in this book happen on almost every page and really keep you guessing.

Not a bad read. Thriller with lots of plot twists. Although I felt the author leads you down a path, doesn't give you enough clues and then goes out off his way to show you the the characters had already thought of that and dismissed it. As if you are the somewhat dull apprentice that is allowed to tag along.

Very well written with suspense throughout the unusual 500+ pages.

I enjoyed this book to a point. I am not a real fan of torture-related writings. This does use it within context of a 'thriller' and it's not as bad as others. But I wish it didn't have it at all or I would have gone 5 stars.

I finished this book last week and handed it to my friend after saying, "This is one of the best books I've ever read." Enough said.
