My first book by Linda Howard. I got involved in the book immediately and found myself zipping through it. The book focused on the developing relationship more than the mystery.

This was a good read. Even though you know from the beginning after
a few chapters who the culprit is, the exciting part was the romantic
escapades where the detective believes the girl did it and then he
didn't and then he did again. Want to guess how it ends...nope;
can't tell you...that would spoil the fun...this was a good storyline
because both myself and my wife enjoy linda's writing style.

Formula sex and mystery book. Guessed who-done-it before it was half over. There were also some bits and pieces that were just wrong. I won't be reading any more of Howard's books.

The very first Howard book I read was All the Queen's Men. I absolutely LOVED it. It had awesome action/romance/dialogue from page one and delivered till the last page. I've read thousands of books, without exaggeration, and it was up there with some of my faves in this genre.
So, I was excited to receive this one in the mail. The plot sounded very intriguing and I couldn't wait to see what she did with it. It wasn't bad, I gave it 3 stars, but I was disappointed because I felt it could have been so much better. I thought she could have made the butler/body guard way more bad "a". I was left unsatisfied. But, it did read quickly, if not a bit predictably.
