First book in a new series by Barbara Dawson Smith. Story is set in London, 1816. Ten years earlier, Grant Chandler, the second son of an earl and disowned by his father, got Sophie Ramsey pregnant, but she never told him of her condition. She married Grant's friend, the Duke of Mulford, while Grant went off to the Continent and became a high-stakes jewel thief. Now, Grant's back in England,and Sophie's husband has died, but not before making Grant guardian of Sophie's nine-year-old son............
