I enjoyed it very much! Its a great followup to the first book, and for a minute there, i seriously wondered if there would be a third book !

Poor Dearly Devoted Dexter, accidentally proposes to Rita LOL, and now Cody seems to be a new Dark Avenger in training. He sinks into the life of the average Joe family man, with the Dark Need growing more and more impatient. Meanwhile, a killer who is connected to Seargent Doakes is playing a deadly game of hangman with his victims, and Dexter and Deborah go on a wild game of cat and mouse to catch the killer, before he catches them first.

The first Dexter book was good, but this one is GREAT!! A truly sick serial killer is out for vengeance and our sweet, sociopathic Dexter is enlisted by his sister to help track him down. Dexter's own "playtime" is very reluctantly put on hold when Doakes, his nemesis, decides to shadow his every move. This forces Dexter into playing house with Rita and the kids in an attempt to fool Doakes into thinking he's "normal". Meanwhile, people are losing body parts and a boot-wearing child-killer may slip through Dexter's fingers. Jeff Lindsay's Dexter books are hilarious, sick, and thrilling - a satisfying combination. This one ends with plenty of fodder for several more. Yea for us!!

The hunt is on for a serial killer who amazes even Dexter. Dexter has been trying to put off suspicion by finding a girlfriend and doing all the things a "regular" person does. This is a great follow up to the first Dexter book.

A great and unusual character ... the Showtime series just adds to the enjoyment of the books.

I thought this started off a little slow, but I ended up liking it as much as Darkly Dreaming Dexter. The series continues to be funny, in a slightly sick way. Lindsay does a good job exploring the ways in which Dexter has trouble being human or figuring out appropriate responses to social situations.

This was such a good book. This is the second book in the Dexter series and it did not disappoint. I love that the story is completely different from the show, yet you have most of the same characters, so there is always a face to the names. What an amazing story this turned out to be. Two thumbs up for me! I Love Dexter!

Dexter finds himself happily after a couple of pedophiles. He discovers a realtor is abducting the children from the houses he has sold to the parents and killing thee boys after raping them. Dexter avenges the children, but also discovers that their is a accomplice.. a photographer.
In the middle of His Bliss, avenging the needy, Dexter gets called to a crime scene, where a body is discovered with almost all the body parts cut off.
Arms, legs, eyelids, lips.. and ect.
This sets off a big invetigation and the Feds from washington coming in. Dexter gets involved through hi sister Debbie and becomes intrigued by Dr. Danco. Dr. Danco is a dememted surgeon from South America, who was imprisioned wrongly and given over to the enemy. He has gotten loose and now is hunting those who gave him away.

I really love this series! This one pretty much completely deviated from the television series. Well, there were some similarities - Doakes and his stalking Dexter, Deborah's involvement with a Fed, but there were some major differences. This time the serial killer at the forefront is not Dexter himself... Cody doesn't seem so innocent... the engagement was nice and the whole NA thing with Lila wasn't remotely in the books, which made me VERY happy! I'm soo excited to keep reading the series!

I'm a fan of the TV show. When I knew it was based on some books, I was curious to read them. I've only read this one. I sympathized with poor Dexter. He's just a killer that needs "alone time". It was interesting to see what elements the TV series drew on. The book itself wasn't terribly impressive. It didn't have much depth to it. Catching the villian seemed to be only a minor inconvenience rather than the main plot. Dexter constantly helping Deb and drinking beer was the story. I'm happily going to stick with the show. Read this if you're curious like me to see where Dexter was born.

The second season of the show was loosely based on this novel. As we follow Dexter as he tracks down a killer, we get glimpses into what drives him. Characters go through shocking changes, and some die. This books accompanies the original nicely. The show just delves into the characters more, but that is because the books are written from Dexter's point of view.

This one, is about Dexter and his sister, going through a case where the killer makes his victims into limbless, squealing potato sacks, and end up living.. Sgnt Doakes, And a hot shot from OGA both become involved in this serial killers plot, as they have both known this guy from years back.. THIS book however, if you have seen the showtime series, is NOT AT ALL like the tv show, which is awesome.. Like i said, i'm on book 3/3 so far * i hope they make more* And are really worth the read if your into gore..

Loved the first book. Addicted to the series (1st season) which was pretty similiar to the book (can't divulge how it differed.)

This second book takes all the relationship further, particularly Dexter's relationship with his sister, Deborah. His relationship with Rita and her children changes drastically but can't divulge how. I can't really tell much about the book without giving spoilers, but I didn't care for it as much as the first one. To me, it didn't seem to have the DEPTH that the first book did. Of course, there is a serial killer or two, of course Deb is in love, of course Doakes is out to get Dexter...something was just not as gripping however. Still it was good reading and I am waiting to get the next one.

I had a hard time getting into this one. Once I was about half way into it, Lindsay caught my attention and I had a hard time putting it down. Now, I'm eagerly waiting to read the third.

I enjoyed this book more than the first, the author seems to have grown into his own. Obviously this isn't a book for everyone, I have yet to watch any of the series on television so the comparisions are lost on me.

* * * The further adventures of this self-proclaimed "killer with a conscience". His macabre humor and self-analysis make this a good read.

The sequel to Darkly Dreaming is terrific. The author gives us more insight into Dexter's mind. It is much gorier than the first one but what a great read!!

My first introduction to Dexter is from the Showtime series. I am always fascinated by rule breaking characters. We're not supposed to like Dexter, he's a serial killer!

I turned to the books after 'wanting more' from the series. I applaud Jeff Lindsay's humor and intriguing concept. The books are not exactly like the series, they are darker and focus more on the inner workings of the true Dexter.

This series is NOT for the faint of heart. Not only is Dexter a serial killer but he is a blood spatter specialist that investigates horrific crime scenes.

It took quite a few pages for the book to get interesting. I found the writing flat and the climax without suspense. I wasn't very invested with the characters, though I found the Dexter character interesting because of his lack of emotion on everything. I wouldn't read it a second time.

I haven't read the other books by this author so I'm not sure how this one compares to those.
