What I liked:
-Many characters from previous books made an appearance
-Loose ends were finally tied up, especially with the local fae
-Some people/vamps/fae/shifters/etc. finally showed their true colors (though it had been obvious to readers for quite awhile)
-The ending seemed to solidly round out the story, while showing promise for the next and final book
-Sookie did NOT get her a$$ kicked constantly throughout the entire story (she needed a break)!
What I didn't like:
-I felt like the plot of the story was easily discerned within the first few chapters, but Sookie was clueless for most of the book.
-Sookie's friends (minus one), family, and lover treat her rather carelessly and still expect a lot in return (I know this isn't new, but it's still annoying).
-There wasn't much romance or passion. Without passion, the story lacked the derived emotional response needed to conceptualize the betrayal Sookie felt.
-While a lot of Sookie's friends and family were finding or have found their "happily ever afters" in Deadlocked, Sookie barely found reason to smile (about anything personal anyway). I know Sookie will not get her happy ending until Dead Ever After, but she should have given something because the story felt rather unbalanced in that aspect.
-The business with the Felipe, his vampires, and Eric was mostly left up in the air and unfinished.
Overall, I felt Deadlocked was significantly better than the previous two installments and a solid addition to the series. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy reading it. So, I'm looking forward to reading Sookie's final adventure in Dead Ever After next year.

Sookie has alot to be grateful for and many sad things happening in her life. Not as violent as former books,we encounter many of Sookie's friends.I got the impression of a wrapping of the loose ends and some happy endings for a few people

First and foremost, gotta' say that I like the ending. I'm sure many people will say afterward how sappy it was, but it solved many problems.

Finally--an almost-decent Sookie installment! The last 2 books were TERRIBLE, so by comparison, this book totally rocked.
However, it completely lacks any & all ROMANCE!!! What happened to the hot & steamy with Sookie & Bill or Sookie & Eric or Sookie & Alcide or Sookie & Quinn?!?!
Harris now seems to write Sookie wandering aimlessly without any decent male-female interaction to fuel the plot.

The Vampire King of Louisiana is in town wanting to find out what exactly happened to Victor. Sookie is called to Shreveport to attend a part for the King at Eric's house. When she arrives, she finds Eric feeding on a female in one of the bedrooms. Shortly after the unknown woman leaves the house, she is found dead on the lawn. The police see the teeth marks on her neck and believe a vampire killed her. Sookie tries to solve the murder while being pulled into various struggles for power in the werewolf and faerie communities.
This is the 12th book in the Southern Vampire series. I found the plot a bit scattered. Sookie really doesn't investigate the murder, but has most of the clues fall into her lap. Most of the time we are following Sookie on her errands, visits to friends, and her work at Merlottes. Lots going on in this one. Find someone close to Sookie aren't trust-worthy. Some ends are tied up. Looking forward to the last installment in May. I have my suspicion who Sookie will end up with, someone who has been present in all the books. Will have to wait and see if I'm right.

I really liked this book. I enjoyed Sookie rambling on day after day, and when something popped up, she towed the line like she always does. I also enjoyed the break from the extreme violance, and her being in love with yet someone else. I've always thought she would end up back with Bill.
Sookie is my most favorite character out of all the series I read. I will miss her. Maybe Harris' new trilogy will be good. I don't read anything else she writes.

I look forward to reading these Sookie Novels each year when they come out. No matter what is thrown at this girl she always prevails one way or another. It's the exciting moments in this series when I can jump up and down and say 'Yay Sookie!' I could not do that with this one. This book was ABSOLUTE MISERY... I can understand the title now. I felt like she PMS-ed the whole book. I felt so sorry for her. I don't know whether to applaud Harris for making this misery work out, or chastize her for not giving me the yay moment until the last page of the book.

We see all of Sookie's past relationships and freinds move forward with thier lives in other directions. Though she fantasizes about how she wishes the best for everyone, we all know it never is perfect in the Sookie world.

I am happy to say that this book was better than the last two. With that said the person behind all the trouble was very easy to figure out in this one I felt. I like that there were some happy endings for the secondary characters in the series. I felt like Ms.Harris is definitely wrapping up the series very well. Cant wait for the last book next year. Sad to have it end but glad it won't be dragged out and ruin the series.
The Sookie Stackhouse series is great fun if you enjoy the paranormal (vampires, werewolves, fae) but I wish I had reread the previous book or two before diving into this one. It's enjoyable, but there is a lot going on with the different groups of characters and a refresher might have made it even better.

There are several things about this book that I really liked a lot, and several things that make me feel the series is past its prime and ready to come to a close. In all honesty the last several books didn't really deserve five stars, but I've kind of been reluctant to lower it without taking everything into account. I don't want to specify too much, since it'll give stuff away, but I will say that while a LOT of things are left up in the air and unresolved in the end, there are also some issues that do finally get resolved and many characters that finally get their happy endings. I'm actually feeling very optimistic for the next book, since this one managed to leave off in such a way that it should set things up for a lot to possibly happen. The issues that were left hanging are ones I certainly want to know about, so I'll definitely be looking forward to volume thirteen.
Ah, I hate to finish a Sookie book. It is like sitting down with an old friend. So comforting and wonderful. Alas, I only have one book left in this series.
I have read and enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse series, but unfortunately have to admit they are going the way of most lengthy book series: By book 12, plot is a thing of the past and there is literally nothing interesting to read about but what goes on day-to-day inside Sookie's head. And even that is a re-tread from other books: Sookie doesn't like being mixed up in supernatural feuds! Sookie feels responsible! Sookie feels used! Sookie might prefer a different boyfriend who would treat her better!

When will Sookie have a good book again? I have stuck it out now for 3 dull installments, and am waiting for some PASSION! Whether it be a great fight scene, or a great sex scene, I haven't been feeling anything from these books for a while now... And isn't that the reason we read these books? To have some fun, guilty pleasure while reading Sookie?
I was not a fan especially of how many side characters they kept throwing back in our faces. Every time they mentioned someone I really had to stop and mentally dig through the last 11 books. This was a bit exhausting, and took me out of the story. Also, I was so frusterated with Sookie for most of this book because she was so CLUELESS! I have always kept up with these books because Sookie is a good female role model. She is smart, savvy, confident, strong, and NOT a bimbo. She is what a female literary character should be this day in age. However, in this book she was just not the Sookie I wanted. Also, she wouldn't stand up for herself to Eric as much as she should have regarding Freyda. I was yelling at the book for her to just CALL him. Frusterating.
Finally, the story left me wanting. It wasn't really about anything particular. It was all over the place with tons of side characters, and it seems like Harris just had to quickly wrap up all these loose story ends she had introduced but never went anywhere with (Jannalyn, Claude, Niall, etc). Ongoing story of telepathic Southern waitress, Sookie Stackhouse. This is the book before the finale. Awesome. Sookie loves Eric the vampire. The vampire community has plans for Eric that don't include Sookie. Sookie's friends and family are getting together, getting married, or having kids, and Sookie wonders if happiness is in store for her. Love the book.

This is probably the least inspired book of the series and I felt it dragged on more than a little. Readers will find they just follow Sookie on errands and hear lots of information repeated in different ways until it all finally clicks together for her but she's just tired and lifeless through the whole thing. It's a bit scattered and you can tell this was the book used to tie up some plot ends that would have been inconvenient to have to deal with in the last book.
Deadlocked is the 12th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. If you have enjoyed the earlier books you will enjoy this one as well. Sookie walks in on Eric feeding on another woman. A younger one. A short while later the same woman is found dead on Eric's front lawn. Meanwhile, Sookie is also dealing with issues involving her fae relatives and within the Were community all while still waiting tables at Merlotte's. It's a fun poolside read.
Wasn't the best book but a good one. It was short and picked off close to where Dead Recking left off. Tara had her babies, romance is in the air for a lot of couples, stories get revealed and some answers come out. Sookie and Dermot finds out their Claude was a very bad fairy in a lot plots and deaths of innocent people.
Food for thought-- I love the books and the shows but is it me or is the shows veering the total opposite of the books. This new season is so confusing I don't know what to expect.

I have to say, for book 12 in a series, and i'm only 4 chapters in, i am completely hooked. I love these books, cant put it down!
Love. So sad this is the next to last novel in the series.
