David Leonhardt is an economics journalist with the New York Times. He joined the New York Times in 1999 and writes a column in the business section of the newspaper. Prior to taking this position, he was with Business Week and The Washington Post.
Leonhardt graduated from Horace Mann School in Riverdale, New York in 1990, and then continued his studies at Jonathan Edwards College, Yale University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics.
David Leonhardt's column in the New York Times, Economic Scene, appears on Wednesdays. He has been writing about economics for The Times since 2000 and has been a columnist since 2006. He was one of the writers who produced the paper's 2005 series on social class in the United States. He is also a staff writer for The Times Magazine and contributes to the Economix blog.
