Good book. Interesting leading PO. Fast reading. I liked it and would read more from this author.

I have read all but one or two of the Prey series and loved them. So I wasn't sure if I would like the new leading character. I was pleasantly surprised, I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. If liked the Prey series I'm sure you'll enjoy this book.
This was not one of John Sanford's best books. It was a little too slow and uncaptivating for my liking.
Like most of Sanford's book, Dark of the Moon was an easy read. Good book for a plane ride.

Good suspense, many suspects hinted at along the way to keep you guessing. I haven't read a John Sanford book in a long time and this one was enjoyable. It is not a Lucas Davenport book, although he is mentioned and there is some dialog with him through the main character, Virgil Flowers.
One of the best Sandford books I've read. Virgil Flowers is another great Sandford character.

I liked this book a lot, very enjoyable read. If you like the Lucas Davenport books, you will probably like this.

Murder, mayhem, arson, scam and rumors, a nutcase religious guy, an out-of-wedlock daughter, greed, hatred...a good book, with something for everyone!
Helpful Score: 1
A new character and I liked him a lot!! Still love Lucas Davenport, but the new guy, Virgil Flowers, is somebody that gets there and gets the job done! Lots and lots of suspects to choose from and you don't know til the very end who's been killing all of the elderly folks in town, but that's the way I like it....keep me in suspense!! Good Book!

I like this author but this one was kind of slow and takes so long to get anything done.

John Sandford is one of my favorite offers. Very enjoyable read.

It ha been a while since I last read a John Sandford book. I was not disappointed in my selection. I like this new character and the storyline was easy to follow and kept my interest. I will want to read more books on this character. It also makes me want to pick up where I left off on this writers Prey books.
Fun read
This book kept my attention all the way through. I enjoyed the new detective Virgil Flowers. The conversations between Virgil and Jim Stryker were very amusing.
enjoyed this book
Really enjoyed this - good story.
Great book.
was not a good book
I've read all of the Prey books by John Sanford, and loved every one. So, I was a bit skeptical about trying out another series by him. Seriously, how could he even begin to compare?? But Dark of the Moon, starring Virgil Flowers of the Prey series, holds his own. And does a fine job of it. This is a great book! Once I got started, I couldn't put it down. It will keep you guessing: who did it?? Right up to the very end. Sandford stills uses the BCA and Davenport, but this is definately Virgil's show. Great read!! I couldn't wait to start the second one, and have GOT to get the 3rd one. Enjoy!!
Good book, interesting new main character. Pretty typical Sandford. Plan to read the next book in series. SteveH
I enjoy all of Sandfords books. This was no exception. Easy to read and hard to put down.
Excellent start to introducing agent Virgil Flowers. This set me in the path of reading all the Virgil Flowers series. It has everything I love, action , humor and a main character with personality.
We John Sanford readers love the Prey series and this series with Virgil Flowers is great.
"Three murders in just as many weeks in the quiet rural town of Bluestream is unheard of. It's also no coincidence. And it's not over: Detective Virgil Flowers is about to be pulled into the middle of a killers violent personal vendetta." - worldcat.org
Another good one from Johnny Boy.
I was really looking forward to reading this book; however, was not impressed. At times it seems scattered. I wouldn't have read the second book in the series if I hadn't already ordered it...thankfully it is MUCH better.

It's great to read about another character in Lucas Davenport's life. John Sandford creates a likeable character and he is believable without being corny. Really good mystery, in the Lucas Davenport genre.
Good not great, this thriller starts slow, is way too wordy but keeps you guessing. Ends quickly, which always shocks me with books that are over wordy everywhere but at the end. Overall I would read more in the series and hope that he gets to the action a little quicker since we already know the main character.
very, very exciting with great ending.
A really good read. Virgil is a very enjoyable character and his dialogue has just the right mix of humor that does not take away from the seriousness of the situation.

I felt this one was a real slow starter! Took much too long to hold my interest.....felt like I had to force my way to get to the ending! A wee bit of a disappointment for me.

Drags painfully and the outcome's not worth the time.
Great start of a new series. Excellent work by Sandford
This one will keep you guessing, and worrying right up 'til the end. Another fine and scary tale by the author of the Lucas Davenport Bureau of Criminal Apprehension series.
From back cover: Three murders in a rural Minnesota town plunge Virgil Flowers, an investigator for the Bureau of Criminal Aprehansion, into the middle of a killer's violent personal vendetta--one that's only just begun to take its toll.

I have read Sandford's Prey series for many years and only wish he could turn them out faster. This new series with Flowers is proving to be right up there at the top of my wish list. Keep'um coming Mr. Sandford!! HootsAnnie
Very good Sanford book

Virgil Flowers is the kind of guy you'd want on your side if your back was to the wall and no where to turn. He's a loner who doesn't look for trouble but he doesn't back down from it either and he's always thinking. Good, good book. You'll like it!
Another good read
OK, not sure I will read more of this story line
Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention and got a hardback book. I have trouble with my hands and reading this book was a real chore. The story was good enough that in spite of the pain I finished the book. Being familiar with the local that the book was set in was fun and seemed pretty accurate (I've only visited the area). Hubby grew up in the area (Worthington,Minn) and I've passed the book on to him. He says it's accurate and is enjoying it as well. The story was well written, good dialogue, easy to follow and a decent page turner (just wish the book wasn't soo heavy! LOL Will look for more of Sandfords books to read later.
Enjoyed this very much, focus on Virgil Flowers from the Prey series. Much as I hate to say it, Lucas Davenport hasn't been so good the last few Prey books, guess he's getting old. Virgil Flowers is a new improved Lucas! Quick read! Can't wait to start the next one.
