Book one in a trilogy...Adrian's story..a well written story with alot of powerful depth. I laughed and I cried, esp with Adrian. He is complex, brooding and damaged and even when he is being a shmuck you gotta love him because you know he is going to "hero up"

I have always been reluctant to try reading new authors because they usually leave me feeling disappointed and I never finish the books. This is not true Julia London, she keeps the reader interested for the entire book. I had run out of books to read and Amazon recommended this to me, so I figured that I would try it after reading a sample chapter. This book is wonderful, if you like the writing styles of Judith McNaught or Jude Devereux you will also like Julia London.
The book starts out with three men, the Rogues of Regent Street. Adrian, Julian and Arthur are all that a woman would look for in a Rogue. Rakes to the core, but with good hearts, each man is haunted by the death of their friend Phillip.
"Know ye, in his death, the quality of mercy."
When Adrian hears these words at Phillip's funeral he realizes that he has not gotten mercy in his own life from any of his family members. Cast off from his wealthy family because of his mothers infidelity he marries a country girl, Lilliana, for revenge against his father and brother. He soon finds out that by marrying for revenge he is getting a lot more than he bargains for. Meanwhile, Lilliana is trying to make herself noticed by her husband while not seeming like a country bumpkin. With all of her futile attempts to make Adrian take note of her just make Adrian more and more angry. Unfortunately distrust in the relationship could soon bring it to an end. They must both heal old wounds and learn the quality of the mercy within their own souls.
I loved this book from the start. London creates strong characters that have human emotions, human faults, and human doubts. The storyline keeps you turning page after page, I couldn't put the book down. You must discover what other readers are just finding out, Julia London is going to have many more books to come, and I can bet they will all be wonderful!!

Setting is England, 1834. Second in "The Rogues of Regent Street" triology. This is Adrian Spence's story. He's the Earl of Albright and the one of the rogues who actually shot and killed one of his fellow rogues (who was also his cousin) in a duel. Great story.

At first I didn't like Adrian and felt very sorry for Lilliana and what she had to endure. Then as his story unfolds more I began to understand him. I ended up really rooting for them, even though I knew as a romance they would end up together. I enjoyed reading this and can't wait to get the other books in this triology.
Adrian Spence marries the woman that his brother desires. Sweet revenge for his father treating him so badly and giving his inheritance to the younger brother. Adrian is determined not to fall for the lovely Lilliana, but can he resist her. A terrible accident takes Adrians eyesight, and he tries to free Lilliana. But, she is in love with him and will not go. Who will win in this battle of wills. Lillian is determined to discover the secret that has been hidden from Adrian all these years, hoping to free Adrian's emotions.

This is looking like a great series. Really like the storyline and how it is developing with all the different main characters. A great read.

I found this story tedious. The amount of angst that the H/H displayed was almost more than I could bear. But I endured if only to find out the mystery of birth at the end of the story. Having said that, it can't be all bad since it kept me reading until the end. I'll just have to see how the other Rogues of Regent Street fare.
There was a lot of interesting twists and turns to the story, more so than your average book of this kind. I enjoyed it very much and will now check out the author's other books. Go for it!

This is one in a trilogy of stories about the Rogues of Regent Street. Their exploits are the talk of the ton. This is the story of Adrian Spence, Earl of Albright- who has earned notoriety on the dueling field as well as in boudoirs of England.
