I was tempted to read all the reviews before, I wrote mine, but didnt want to be influenced by them. WOW! By page 6 I was enthralled by the writers prose. She writes a real story, she doesnt need Zany-off-the-wall characters to make her story work. But all of her characters are distinct and memorable. I thought this story was excellent, deep, thought provoking, not full of a bunch of 20 something angst, but a real solid character who wasnt going to sell out. It was honest about the lonliness in the world. I didnt know any of the Kung Fu Jackie Chan movies and it didnt make a difference. She told an excellent excellent story. I will read her other books.

Kind of like a chick-flick but in print. Definitely a good book and a quick read, but it was a little on the light side. I like that it didn't with the perfectly happy ending but with hope for the future, and there was a lot of internal struggle and angst.

I really enjoyed this book. Thank goodness it's not a typical chick-lit book. Nicci is a refreshing character. She's unsure of herself but not in a "shopaholic" way. Nicci knows she has faults - she enjoys Kung Fu movies, especially those with Jackie Chan, and she doesn't like being set-up on dates, which her friend is constantly doing. It's not a "happily-ever-after" type of book but you'll enjoy the tie-ins with various Chan movies. Hey, it might even make you want to watch one!

I LOVED this book. It is one of my all time favorites. You get done reading it and you are so excited and happy you just want to clap your hands (both me and my sister actually did before we knew the other one had)! Enjoy.

I really liked this book a lot. Nicci Bradford was a MB (Missionary Brat), moving around, mainly growing up in the Phillipines. When her parents retire and move back to the States, she is older and away in school so has never had a real home. She picks a city the total opposite of what she is familiar with - Boston - to live in. She has a job she isn't thrilled with. A co-worker keeps trying to fix her up with dates but none of them work out. She literally "falls" into the arms of a client and they begin dating. She takes him home for Thanksgiving to meet the parents and her grandfather doesn't approve - Italian leather shoes (you have to read the story). A chance meeting in a coffee shop leads to her true place in life. When an old friend walks away from her marriage and her life to return to work in Hong Kong, she re-evaluates everything.

This was a wonderful wonderful book. I highly recommend it for a fun read, along with a great meaning within it's storyline.

Was okey for me. A young woman trying to find herself by living by the marital arts movie codes of Jackie Chan. I read the first chapter, then the last chapter. Would have been a cute read, but two chapters were enough for me.
