I enjoyed this book as much as the first. I thought the story was entertaining and had a hard time putting this down. The ending was satisfying and left me wanting more. I understand there is supposed to be a third and final book in this series.

Interesting concept. An imortal Frankenstein who has learned to control his temper. I recommend starting with #1. Not your usual Koontz, well written.
I love Dean Koontz & like his take on the classic Frankestein story. This is the 2nd one in that series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first frankenstein, this one was okay, hoping book 3 ties this up well.
This book was more fantasy/science fiction than most of Koontz's other books. Interesting, but not as good as his novels in which a central character is fully developed psychologically.

Great series, if you've started it, I don't want to give anything away. Dean Koontz's take on Frankenstein and the quest for a perfect race.
I am really enjoying this series. I was so mad when I got to the end of book two and found out that book three isn't out yet. I have trouble waiting for books in a series so when I found this book in paperback I figured the rest of the series was out already. Anyway, it's worth a read just for fun.
Great take on an old storyline.
Starting right up where the previous release PRODIGAL SON left off, we find Carson, Michael, and Deucalion attempting to figure out how to gain access to Victor Helios (aka Frankenstein) and destroy him.
As members of the New Race start having breakdowns all over the city, Carson and Michael are fighting off an assassination attempt, trying to keep Carson's brother safe, wondering what officials of the New Orleans government have been replaced by New Race replicants, and how the heck they're going to infiltrate Helios's guarded home to take him down.
Koontz is my favorite author of all time, and I've been sucked into the Frankenstein story just like all of his others. I'm anxiously awaiting the conclusion to this story with the third book, and all I have to say is this--Victor better suffer, Deucalion better not die, and Carson and Michael better end up married. After that, Koontz can do what he wants.

This is a great series from Dean Koontz. I could not put the book down. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happens next. The worst part of the book was finishing it and not have book three in my hands to finish out the story.
After reading Bk 1 in this series I threw this one out without reading it. I wasted my time reading I and wasn't about to start doing it with this volume. I will not swap this one as it would be unethical to send this trash out in the world.
The 2nd book of the series.. a have to read if you read number one.. if not go get it! great books! loved them , they kept me up late into the night!

If you love Dean Koontz, or any well put together paranormal thriller, this is the one for you. I bought Book 1, 2, and 3 after just reading the first few pages of Book 1. The plot keeps you moving, and the quasi-historical references keep it interesting. Throw in an evil mastermind and a couple ethical cops and it's a sure winner.
I wasn't sure how I would like this series but I love all of Dean Koontz' books and this one did not dissapoint. A fast read that keeps you wanting more.

Victor Frankenstein, yes, that Victor Frankenstein, is alive and well in New Orleans, where he is creating an entire race of "new men." Koontz's latest is a respectful follow-up to the original story and is performed beautifully. John Bedford Lloyd is a commanding reader with a voice that grabs the listener by the throat, metaphorically speaking. He's perfect as the voice of the evil Victor Frankenstein, his voice and demeanor that of an amoral genius. Lloyd is equally effective as Frankenstein's original creation, "the monster" brought to life by lightning and arcane science. This time around, it's clear which of them is the true monster.

The story continues with some very strange people. If it wasn't for being written by Dean Koontz, I would have dumped this book after chapter 6.

Good second entry in Koontz' Frankenstein series. This book continues where "Prodigal Son" left off. So far this series has been a great update of the original Frankenstein story with Victor Frankenstein and his monster both surviving for the past 200 years. Frankenstein, who changed his name to Helios, has managed to extend his life and is creating a super race of beings to take over mankind. While the monster has turned more human over the past 200 years and wants to put an end to Frankenstein and his mad plan. In "City of Night" it appears that Frankenstein's super beings are not so perfect - some of them are morphing into other beings totally unexpected by their creator. The book, like its predecessor, is a nice blend of science fiction, crime novel, and horror. I would recommend it. Looking forward to Book 3 - Dead and Alive.
The second book in the AWESOME series!
An intriguing continuation of the story, this one fleshes out the supporting cast a lot more. The story isn't "perfect", but it is entertaining. The witty banter moves from the forced to natural.

This book was worth waiting for; things get a little far-fetched regarding the creatures that Victor is creating, but still suspenseful and good reading. Looking forward to the final book when Deucalian, Carson & Michael face Victor in the climactic confrontation.

I bought this immediately after I read the first one, and, like the first, I could not put it down. Gripping reading.
Sequal to Prodigal Son , City of Night follows up on Detectives O'Connor and Maddison who are trying to save the world from the evil Dr Helios' plot to replace us with damned creatures.

I am much impressed with Koontz' version of Frankenstein, I wish he'd chrun them out faster. I highly recommend it.

Not as good as book 1, but typical Koontz in its graphic nature and as always - Koontz is well written and full of surprises. Anxious to see how he pulls this all together in book three.

I love Dean Koontz! This book is the second of a trilogy and I read it in record time. I was sad to see it end, and am looking forward to the third installment (coming out in the summer). :)

Great horror story- modern day monsters in where else? New Orleans
I wasn't sure at first about the modern take on the Frankenstein story, but quickly became aborbed in this new series due to Koontz's storytelling prowess.
I thought this would be a turkey, but it's really fascinating.
This is a masterpiece. Be sure to read Book One. Can't wait until Book Three!

Maybe it's my distracted state of mind but I didn't enjoy this book nearly as much as Frankenstein Prodigal Son . I didn't find it very interesting and found my mind drifting away throughout most of it. I think the thing I liked best about the first book in the series was learning more about the monster but in this book he's more of a secondary character in a cast full of secondary characters. Actually, when I think about it, the action seemed to be more of the main focus of the book than any of the characters and thus was the source of many of my issues with the book. I'm not a big all action/all the time type of reader and like a little more character development than I got here. I am going to pass this one to someone else.

I enjoyed the Frankenstein series. Koontz keeps you on the edge and waiting for the nest in the series.
After reading this 450 pages you will feel ripped off. The plot doesn't move whatsoever from where the book begins. Yes, you 'meet' Victor's latest wife (boring) and that's about it. There is no ending, it just stops. No resolution of anything. Not even a cliffhanger. Very disappointing.
