Dr. Dodman is widely regarded as one of the nation's foremost authorities on dog and cat behavior. I have been privileged to hear him speak several times, and he is fascinating. This book is a fascinating look at the attitudes, emotions and psychology of cats, and make help you understand your feline companions much better! (Yes, there ARE reasons they do the things they do...) An interesting and thought-provoking read for the cat lover.

In light of the Animal Planet Show "My Cat From Hell" and the star of that show, Jackson Galaxy's methods of solving cat behavior problems through behavior modification and educating cat owners about cat behavior, Dr. Dodman's solution of medication of some sort of almost every problem he encounters in this book seems outdated. The case studies are interesting, but I would love to hear Jackson Galaxy's reaction to each one.

Much like the book about dog behavior by the same author, Dr. Dodman relies too much on medication to intervene and provides little "new information" to the experienced pet owner.

Very informative and interesting reading. Anyone who shares their life with a cat will benefit from this veterinarians insight into how a cat thinks. Divided into sections: Aggressive Behavior, Compulsive Behavior and Emotional Behavior.
