This was another great book in the series. The sensuality shouldn't be a surprise for those who have already been reading the books and this one does not disappoint. Vampire fans know that the creatures are, after all, erotic being & this story captures that. Anita continues to learn that the saying "sex is power" is true in her case as she explores the powers that are growing within her. A wonderful read in a superb series!

If you've read the series, you'll want to read this one. Although the author says each book is a "stand alone" story, you should definitely read them in order, or you'll lose a lot of the meaning.

Hmmm, I noticed most of the reviews for this book dont go into any sort of plot here. I couldnt figure it out at first but now that Im almost finished with this reread I get it. There isnt one.
Well, thats not quite true. There were threads of plot, the vampire council has come to town to rape and pillage the beasties, but really this book is all about Anita gaining power, dealing with her two lover boys and gaining new puppy doggies and kitties who follow her every command. Its bloody, its sexual but mostly in a vile, violent way and its so not my favorite of the series. I think I need a break from these books now. I found myself getting grouchy and bored with the oh-so-perfect and all-powerful Anita. I want tomboy Anita The Vampire Executioner back and as much as I complained about the Nike swish descriptions I'd give anything to have them back. If I have to hear another description of a whored up Anita outfit I'm going to gag.

This was a really good book! Lots of stuff going on at once. Anita really gets into new powers and she and Jean-Claude and Richard work together against the evil and powerful "Council" against unsurmountable odds. Lots of action and crazy stuff going on.

I liked this one because it actually had a little bit of mystery and suspense to it. Tracking down the arsonist takes up a large chunk of the story rather than focusing so much on Anita's relationships. This one is a good choice for those not so interested in Anita's personal life.

I love the Anita Blake series. A dark story - not for the squeamish. Anita can kick butt, but now she's learning to use her untapped powers - is she one of the monsters, too? I'll guess I'll have to read the rest to find out!

Another action packed, can't put down adventure starring Anita Blake and lots of Jean Claude, Richard and his wolf pack, the were leopards, the vampire council and lets not forget the were rats. In this book Anita discovers alot of new powers she possess along with a better understanding and increasing strength of her old powers, which she will need to survive the dangerous vampire council's visit.This is one of my favorites and I can't wait to read the next!
I have read this series about 4 times. I get something new out of it each time. Of course it's good
