A favorite of mine. Medical student spends the summer caring for her disabled grandmother, who is a mean lady who terrified her children and grandchildren throughout their lives. Spooky things happen in the old house. The characters are so real, you feel you know them. Great book.

One of my favorite Barbara Michaels books! Even the title is delicious! Great fun summer reading.

This is a great book to be reading for summer read, or a to curl up on the couch in winter with and let yourself get lost in the story. While at time you might feel it is predictable, there are enough twist and turns to make it keep you interested.

Enter a world where forgotten secrets never die... The truth was waiting for Julie Newcomb. Waiting in the shadows of the decaying family plantation. In the cold, dark, eyes of her bedridden grandmother. On the lonesome road to Maidenwood---where the earth- browned skeletons of a mother and child where first discovered.
