There is a lot of useful information in this book, but there was some advice/opinions of Dr Dobson that I did not personally agree with. I did glean some useful tips for raising my one son out of five children!
Great for parents of boys!
an insightful read.
Anyone who has sons should certainly read this. It has great insights and research for what boys are like and what they do. There was only one of the questions he answered at the end of a chapter that I completely disagreed with because he gave into human nature and how this issue is just something to accept, but I have known many many many men who have gone through it and have stated the issue is wrong and harmful on many levels. . . .thankfully I knew Dr. Dobson's ideals on the issue before reading it, so I wasn't surprised to read it. I learned a lot considering I have two young sons. Overall the book states that the father is the most important person in a boy's life and that he needs to spend time and have fun with him. I think that is something that my husband does a pretty good job at, so I am really thankful and hope that our boys will be able to be strong and confident and sure of their masculinity.
What qualities do you want to instill in boys? Dr. James c. Dobson, child psychologist, offers latest research, advice and encouragement about the role of men in our society.
Good book from Christian standpoint of raising boys.
If you get this book, stop reading it after the anecdote about the boy jumping off the barn roof, which I think is in the first chapter. That is the best part of the book. Then go get some Gurian or even Raising Cain.
