This is book no. 4 in the Stone Creek novel and it's mainly about "Gideon Yarbro". It takes place in the early 1900's. And, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only do we get a glimpse of the characters from the previous novels (i.e. Gideon's brothers Rowdy and Wyatt and their wives and children) but we also see Lydia come back as a young woman, and under rather strange circumstances become Gideon's bride. The passion between the two of them was electrifying. And, I was grateful to see that Linda Lael Miller gave Lydia a backbone and wasn't a weak, wishy-washy mess like some of her female leading ladies.
There was alot of action in this book, too. I give it 4 stars!

Since Gideon Yarbro gave Lydia the letter (to post if she were ever in trouble) in THE WANTED MAN, I have hoped that there would be a novel. What can be more romantic than giving a pre-addressed and written letter to comfort someone anxious about huge changes in her life?
Lydia's doctor-father had frozen to death in a blizzard and Lydia (eight years-old at the time) was going to live with distant-living aunts who were strangers).
Although the plot was rather sparse-on-the-ground, I enjoyed it. Since I've invested quite a bit of time (this is the 4th book) with the Yarbro's, I didn't look too carefully at the thin nature of the plot.
However, something that did bother me was the poor editing of the novel. Another reviewer has mentioned the change of Aunt Nell Baker from the mother's side of the family (in THE WANTED MAN) to the father's side of the family in this book.
Miller couldn't decide if it had been 10 years from the time of the letter writing until its posting, or 12 years. It jumped back and forth when referring to Lydia and Gideon. Linda Lael Miller has written 148 novels in the time span most authors pen around 50. Maybe she should slow down and be more careful - or hire a competent proofreader.
This is not the first time I've caught sloppy errors in Miller's books.
Note: Books 5 and 6 are combined in an omnibus titled: HOLIDAY IN STONE CREEK.

the 4th book of the Stone Creek series - great series. The youngest of the Yarbro outlaw brothers is an undercover agent...great romance - good read - typical Linda Lael Miller novel.
Of all Linda's books, I think this one shows her true talent the best. I fell in love with Gideon. He grew from a shy but brave teenage boy in the first Stone Creek books, into a sexy, loving, noble man. Total steamy romance in this book. I loved the dialogue so much, and I thought Lily's aunts were so funny. Linda captured each character's emotions brilliantly. You could feel the passion being stoked between the two. This is a definite must-read!

Linda Lael Miller at her best. Another great story.
good book.
Good book
So good I had to read it again. Great ending to the Yarbro brothers series.
Can't go wrong with a Stone Creek novel! This was a quick easy read. Last of the Yarbros?
I thought it was just OK. Never really connected with the characters as a couple.
great series!
Pretty much by-the-numbers romance, set in 1915 Arizona, complete with lecherous banker and virginal heroine willing to marry him to save the Family Home, until the hero comes along to rescue her.
So good!
Good book. Worth reading.
