This book was a great compilation of short stories! I am not normally a fan of short stories, but I'm so glad I read this book. I found a couple of new authors to read, and a couple of others I'm looking forward to their different series (Jeanne C. Stein, for example; I didn't care for the Anna Strong books, but the short story "The Witch and the Wicked" makes me hope she has a line of books coming out from this "world.") There's a typical Sookie Stackhouse story, a great Dresden Files story and I am so glad I got to read more of P.N. Elrod's work, and was introduced to Tanya Huff and a couple of others. There are, of course, some stories I didn't care for, but that's ok, I feel like I saved myself the trouble of buying a disappointing book or waiting in a long wish list for nothing.

I'm not sure if I'm actually going to keep it yet, but I do recommend this book to others who enjoy the paranormal worlds. 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. There were stories from long time favorite authors and stories from authors I haven't read before but definitely will now. Gotta love those vampires!

A really quick enjoyable read. Almost all of the stories are just little shorts that go to authors series. A bit of everything, there is paranormal romance, young adult, urban fantasy, & more. A few of the authors are new to the paranormal realm including the author of my favorite story in the book How Stella Got her Grave back. I usually don't like short stories, I prefer anthologies by far. Short stories usually seem to lack depth to me, & always leave me hanging, but this just left me wanting to read more so I will be picking up the next book in all the series featured so I can find out more. I really hope that Tanya Huff will wright more about Henry & Vicki, I must say the story was a big teaser since I think the series is over. Correct me if I am wrong, but she has not written anything about them in awhile so I'm assuming that the series is over. Now I'm off to see if I can find some more anthology & collaborations featuring these authors, because I just need another fix. I swear reading is my addiction.

This was a really fun collection. The thing I love most about art is that you can give two different people the same concept, and they will come back with drastically different results. This compilation of short stories is a great example of that. Besides, vampires and birthdays, what can be more fun than that?

I bought this book because I am a huge Charlaine Harris fan. I didn't really expect to be interested in the other authors here. Wow was I wrong. I really enjoyed every single story. Albeit, I probably wont get into every author in here, but my interest has been piqued for a few. (I never thought I'd be interested in Jim Butcher...ever!)

A lot of the stories are sad, but there is a good amount of humor mixed in. It's definitely worth a read!

The first short story in this is a Sookie Stackhouse short, that I loved. The image of Valad the Imapaler was a perfect paint to the True Blood world.

The second short, 'The Mornful Cry of Owls' I read 3 pages and stopped. It was full of over written desciptions that I could care less about.

The third short, 'I was a Teenage Vampire' was childish and inappropiate for this collection. It's really meant for a 10-12 year old.

The forth short, 'Twilight' 8 pages in I lost interest. It's written form the vampire's point of view, and he is looking for the perfect victim....picky eater I guess.

I really want to read more but have given up on this one. Borrow it, don't buy it.

Excellent book. I loved every story in this book. Because of this book, I now have a couple new authors to add to my list.

I had a hard time with this. I love to read and had to start over on a new story every 25 pages. Stories were ok.

This was a very interesting anthology. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in the subject matter - vampires.

I got this book because three of the stories were part of on-going series that I'm reading. I didn't bother with the other stories, so I can't comment on them.

Charlaine Harris wrote a story about Sookie Stackhouse receiving an invitation to the annual birthday party for Dracula at Fangtasia. The story was cute, but only 20 pages long.

Kelley Armstrong wrote a story about vampire Cassandra DuCharme. Cass must make at least one kill every year on the day of her re-birth, or she will die. I was excited to read this story from the Women of the Otherworld series. What a disappointment. This story was really depressing.

The last story I read was by Jim Butcher. It was part of his Dresden Files series. Harry Dresden tracks his brother, Thomas, down at the mall in order to give him his birthday present. He finds a group of people being held by Black Court vampires. Great story. It felt like it was full length instead of only 40 pages. It wrapped up nicely...I just wish it could have gone on and on.

This is a good batch of short stories. Jim Butcher's entry is by far the best, and Charlaine Harris's is a must-read.
