James Patterson can keep us turning pages, but don't expect a satisfying conclusion from this book. Instead, imagine turning to the last page and finding "TO BE CONTINUED" in all caps. Although the last page doesn't read that way, it might as well. This is clearly the first in a series of at least one additional book that will feature Patterson's latest antagonist, a particularly nasty Russian Mafia boss who calls himself "the Wolf."

Alec Cross has his first case since joining forces with the FBI, and it makes for a thrilling tale. Love the author and never would miss one of his books.

Great Book!
Helpful Score: 1
Another good one which is the second of a trio featuring a villian who appears again in the third of the series. Read "Pop Goes the Weasel" first, then this one, and then "London Bridges".
Helpful Score: 1
This book was typical James Patterson fare. I thought it was okay. Some of the things he writes about are eerie because of the likelihood they could happen.
Another winner from James Patterson. Pulls you in and keeps you enthralled until the very last page! I've spent way too many late nights with James!! I just can't put his books down....and this one is no different! Always keeps you guessing!

Messed up! Good read but the bad guys imagination...
James Patterson did it again! He wrote yet another book I couldn't put down. I was hooked from the first page to the last.
Love me some Alex
Loved it! I've read all of the Alex Cross books, and this one is probably my favorite. Mostly because Alex has changed jobs and there is much more revealed about his life and those in it.
Love the Alex Cross series!
An Alex Cross mystery with many twists & turns; about the master
criminal The Wolf. Intriguing - great characters and very entertaining!
criminal The Wolf. Intriguing - great characters and very entertaining!
I was very disappointed in this book. There was no building of suspense and all the characters lacked personality.
Alex Cross at his best.
Alex Cross's first case since joining the FBI has his new colleagues stymied. Across the country, beautiful women are being kidnapped-to be bought and sold as slaves. Behind this depraved scheme stands a shadowy figure known as the Wolf, a master criminal who has brought a new reign of terror to organized crime.
Typical James Patterson. Super slueth Alex Cross.
Alex Cross is once again the very human protagonist who goes after a ruthless predator.

excellent book. gets right into the story. can't wait to read more of his work.
a page turner. i couldn't put it down.
One of the best in the Alex Cross series. A very complex plot involving a mysterious Russian gangster known as The Wolf. The 3 stars is because its a beach read / brain candy. That said its one of the best of that genre.
Unfortunately I read London Bridges first (which I don't recommend because the surprise ending isn't a surprise!) If you are an Alex Cross fan read Pop Goes the Weasel, then this one and lastly London Bridges.

Very enertaining from start to finish!
James Patterson is one of the best. The Alex Cross series is awesome.
Alex Cross's first case since joining the FBI again involving 'The Wolf'
Classic Alex Cross - not my favorite of the series, but a quick and exciting read. Christine is back, and Alex is with the FBI.
I love all the Alex Cross books. I highly recommend you read them in order.
I absolutely loved this book. I did not read the books before it because my friend gave me the book, and honestly, I had no idea there were more until I posted it and it said this was the 9th book. I highly recommend the book because it is suspenseful, and it is an easy read. I had it read within a day or two.
An Alex Cross FBI thriller. I've enjoyed all Patterson's books involving Alex Cross. Fast moving. I read the book in two days.
Great book! Read this one and then the sequel London Bridges!!
Solid Alex Cross Mystery. Very entertaining.
I enjoy all the Alex Cross novels and this one did not disappoint.
Excellent
I was very disappointed in this book. There was no building of suspense and all the characters lacked personality.
Another page-turner from Patterson. He brings these characters to life! I couldn't put it down once I started it. And, true to Pattersons' writing he left me wanting more, getting to the next book in the series as soon as I finished this one. As I was reading Big Bad Wolf, I found myself wondering if people like this really exist in our world. I guess they must, or we wouldn't have need for FBI, HRT, etc.
Being an Alex Cross follower, I really enjoyed this book. I like the Alex Cross character as he is both riveting and is sensitive with his family. I wish they would make more films out of the James Patterson books as they are worth watching.
Nothing better than curling up with Alex Cross and trying to figure out what is going to happen next. You know it's coming, but you don't know when, where, or how! This one is no different. Great author, just keep 'em coming!
This is another great book by James Patterson. I love the Alex Cross series and can't wait to get to the the next book.
In the midst of his FBI training, former Police Detective Alex Cross is called in to investigate The Wolf, an ex-KGB agent turned master criminal, with links to the Russian Mafia, who uses the Internet to fulfill the fantasies of some of the sickest sociopaths in recent popular fiction. Each of these well-heeled villains pays megabucks to have his current obsession, male or female, stalked, kidnapped, and delivered--to him. As the complex plot unfolds, narrators Peter J. Fernandez and Denis O'Hare offer a variety of stunning characterizations. Alex has clarity and energy, The Wolf is vicious and sadistic, and the cyber-weirdos, particularly Mr. Potter and the Art Director, are despicable. Patterson's plot, rife with imprisonment, torture, rape, and murder, gives Fernandez and O'Hare plenty to sink their teeth into.
The 9th book in the Alex Cross Series.........
this is another of the alex cross novels, and i loved it. it will keep you reading almost nonstop!!
I have enjoyed the series of Alex Cross and this book was just as good. The only complaint that I have is the changes in the end of the book. The ending was abrupt.
Great continuation of the Alex Cross series.
FBI agent, Alex Cross, battles the ruthless and powerful predator killer known as "The Wolf". Across the country men and women are being kidnapped in broad daylight, then completely disappearing. Not taken for ransom, but rather bought and sold. An unforgettable thriller.
Couldn't put it down!
Not one of his better books
james patterson 's alex cross a good detective story lots of intrigue
The book is incredibly exciting from beginning to end taking you from Alex Cross's newness in the FBI to his personal strifes at home. I love Patterson's book, but this one I read in 2 days because I just couldn't put it down.

Great story. Writing about the interactions between Alex Cross and his supervisor, as well as his family, adds more depth to the character. Thriling mystery.

As always, an entertaining easy-read from James Patterson. Recommended.

James Patterson at his best -- Alex Cross in more trouble than he can count! Very good book!!
Edge-of-your-seat thriller! It's all about trying to capture a Russian mobster. Fantastic and goes so fast that you don't want it to end!

In a recent column in Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King cited Patterson's thrillers as the example of "dopey" bestsellers. We hope that doesn't mean that those who enjoy them are dopes, because this new one is vastly entertaining. Alex Cross, Patterson's black lawman hero, has left the D.C. police force for the FBI. But Cross was a star cop, so when the Bureau becomes aware that attractive white women are disappearing at an unusually high rate in the nation's capital, Cross, despite still being in training at Quantico, is brought onto the case and is personally mentored by the Bureau's director, earning the ire of some Feds but the support of others. Behind the disappearances is a sexual slavery operation run as a sideline by one of the more believable and most compellingly evil villains in the Patterson universe, the Wolf, a mysterious former KGB man who's now the world's top mobster. The narrative throughout is swift and varied, as Patterson cuts among the diabolical schemes of a Russian magnate who may be the Wolf, the plight of several kidnap victims, the dogged pursuit by Cross and company of the Wolf, and the hideous designs of the members of an encrypted computer chat room who pay the Wolf fortunes to snatch women who fit their fantasies. And there's domestic drama, too, as the mother of Cross's young son, Alex, decides that she wants her boy back. Full of plot surprises and featuring a balanced mix of intrigue, hard action and angst, the novel, on which Patterson notably does not share cover credit, grips from start to finish. The Alex Cross series remains Patterson's finest, and this is the finest Cross in years. Maybe we're dopes, but we're smiling ones.

Wow- a fantastic book! The plot and characters bring the story to life, creating a wild ride. James Patterson never disappoints!
Alex Cross' family is in terrible danger--at the same time that his new job with the FBI brings him the scariest case of his career. A team of kidnappers has been snatching successful, upstanding men and women right before their families' eyes--possibly to sell them into slavery. Alex's knowledge of the D.C. streets, together with his unique insights into criminal psychology, make this mindbending case one that only he can solve--if he can just get his colleagues to set aside their staid and outdated methods. With unexpected twists and whiplash surprises, this is another brilliantly irresistible novel from America's bestselling suspense writer.
