Didn't care for it overall. Ian is supposed to be attracted to Elizabeth's intellect and well as her beauty; from her behavior most of the time, I found her intellect to be non-existent.
Loved it!
One of my very favorites
This is a story about a Scottish man, Ian Thornton, who ignored gossip and the ton's idea of right and wrong who fell in love with an innocent girl, Lady Cameron, at a country house party. They were manipulated by a jealous friend of Lady Cameron's and she was compromised, thus shunned by the ton. Two years later they are forced back together and they made amends eventually and married. As good stories go, they become separated due to events that took place at the time of her fall from grace at the house party 2 yrs previous and because of Ian's Scottish temper. Meantime he accepts his title denied his father by his father, he's arrested for wife's and brother-in-laws murders, Lady Cameron disappears. In the end they are together but I'll leave that for you to read about. Was a good story if you like strong willed, arrogant men and strong willed, determined ladies. A good read. I'm not good at summarizing stories and I don't like to tell the story so I hope I have told you enough to captivate your interest enough to read the book.
I just discovered Judith McNaught in a previous book, Something Wonderful. Also a good story. Hope this helps.

Loved this book. I am one of Judith McNaught's biggest fans. Her books always have such interesting characters and are well-written. I always finish her books within days of getting them.
No beauty in England could outshine Elizabeth Cameron, Countess of Havenhurst. But beneath her exquisite emerald eyes and cloud of golden hair lived a girl of rare gentleness, pride and splendid, even ferocious, courage. In Ian Thornton's powerful embrace, Elizabeth felt the first stirrings of a passion that blazed through her senses, never to be denied.
historical romance set in England/Scotland
from London to Scotland...destiny calls....
I wasn't that excited to read this (what can I say... I base the books on their covers, and this one is pretty boring!), but as soon as I started reading it I was hooked! It's such an amazing book, and the ending is really great! This copy has some loose pages, but none are missing and it wasn't enough to impede my reading.
A great love story!!
good regency read.
I loved it! Read it in one day--of course nothing ELSE got done!
Must read for all Judith McNaught fans
A classic Judith McNaught book. I have multiple copies of it because it's such a great book. She's clever in the banter of her characters. You can feel the emotions that they are feeling because of the clarity and depth of the writing. A must read for romance readers.
