This was just fabulous. It's another book in the series of the Bentz/Montoya and Our Lady of Virtue sanitarium.

It's amazing how Lisa Jackson has connected Absolute Fear, Cold Blooded, Hot Blooded, and Shiver. The same characters keep popping up. And I was absolutely STUNNED with the ending of Absolute Fear. I just know she'll be writing another soon. LOVE this writer! :)

This book was fantastic! Lisa Jackson does a great job of weaving her characters together in a way that is relevant to the story. The ending of this book was perfect. Concludes this novels story but, leaves alot of possibilities open for future novels.

If you are a fan of Lisa Jackson don't miss this one. If you have never read her before, give this one a try!

In her stunning follow up to the 2006 best seller "Shiver," Lisa Jackson has proven that there's room for a little romance amid all the death and depravity. Absolute Fear is part of the Bayou series, which includes, "Hot Blooded, Cold Blooded, and Shiver." The plot line is in depth and complicated yet developed simultaneously with the characters, in such a way that Absolute Fear stands on its own. This book has it all, child abuse, scandalous behavior within the church, unethical medical practices, sex, murder and mayhem. Having enjoyed this novel on every conceivable level, I have added all three previous titles to my list of must reads.

Absolute Fear is an Absolute Best Seller! Lisa Jackson has continued her series, while creating a novel that stands tall on its own merit. Jackson's ability to explore the inner workings of this characters depraved mind is an astonishing literary feat, that should not be overlooked. Successfully delivering to the reader a fright filled journey into the dark recesses of a madman's desires, while maintaining a relationship filled with explosive passion places Lisa Jackson in the company of the best! This book has the perfect mix of secrets, lust and murder to keep readers coming back again and again. And with the door left open at the conclusion, we can hope that there will be another installment.

Meh. The first book in this series, "Shiver", was spellbinding. "Absolute Fear" was a tired copy. Not as exciting since a lot of the plot devices were recycled.

This was a great book---sequel to Shiver. You must read Shiver first. I stayed up until 2:30 in the morning the other night reading this book!

I finished this book but almost stopped a few chapters from the end I was so sick of the ridiculous behavior of the characters. Eve is maddening. She thinks her lover shot her and he would have been in prison except her story wasn't solid enough to go to court so the guy gets out. Meanwhile, he's lost his job as an attorney, possibly his license, his home, and car, and all his worldly goods. Still, he goes running back to her against his attorney's advice with no obvious resentment of any kind - just sweet, and loving and patient. She, on the other hand, is on and off. She's has a legal order to keep him away, then she cancels it. She's constantly hot and wants him to take her to bed, or cold and ordering him out of her life. She takes no sensible advice from anyone. None of the women in the story do - they are foolish people every step of the way.

And it's another gem from the queen of suspense! Absolute Fear is the story of Eve Renner and her on-again and off-again love affair with Cole, her dad's attorney. Eve's dad was the head psychiatrist and surgeon at Our Lady of Virtues Hospital down in New Orleans. Eve can remember playing at the hospital when she was a young girl..the normal friends and the freaks.

Eve also knows that she was adopted at a very young age and has never tried to track down her birth parents. When her DNA is analyzed, she winds up being related to Detective Montoya's girlfriend, deceased nut-case Faith Chastain, Detective Rick Bentz and his daughter, Kristi. It's very interesting how the entire story unfolds.

Of course, we get to see some of the characters again that have been in Lisa's New Orleans stories before...like the two detectives, Rick's daughter Kristi, etc.

Lots of suspense, thrills and enough intrigue to keep you guessing as to how it's going to end. A long book--but well worth the ride!

I found this book to be very enjoyable, but a little confusing in spots. This book is a definite read for all the suspense lovers out there.

I really enjoy Lisa Jackson's New Orleans series. What's nice about this book is that it introduces new characters as the main characters so if you don't read the others its fine. Pretty good book. Lots of plot twists and of course my favorite detectives, Bentz and Montoya. Lots going on and the history of the characters make you grateful you didn't grow up in that family.

All-in-all, a pretty good, interesting read featuring the mental illness of a killer, if the reader can manage to bypass the typical female bullcrap. This book had several twists and turns that actually surprised me, which, after being such a longtime reader of murder mysteries and police procedurals, it's rather hard to do nowadays. The ending is pretty good and makes up for some of the irritating parts, such as, I get really tired of the brave, strong woman who is all gun-ho for not being a victim and she's going to catch this killer, by God, and kick some ass doing it! But, as always, she starts making stupid decisions and mistakes that anyone with common sense would know better, and then I start to get frustrated with the author (and the characters, or course) for taking a strong woman and turning her into a melting heap of fear. So predictable and so upsetting. I guess I need to stick with books featuring all men and stay away from the female as being the main character. I also found myself fast forwarding through several lovemaking scenes. If I wanted to read a romance, I would have purchased a romance novel.

Good mystery. Recommend reading Jackson's book "SHIVER" before reading this although not necessary. Characters from Shiver are further developed in Absolute Fear.

Too many implausible coincidences. Ending seemed hurried and forced to me. Did not like the way the next book in the series was set up in the ending of this one. I agree with a previous reviewer...did not believe that Kristi would be the one to foresee the future..should have been Olivia.
This book did not live up to previous books by Lisa Jackson.

Absolute page turner. The research and fore thought involved in writing this book is absolutly mind boggling. As you read and she brings clues to light the reader is awed by how it all pulls together. You will not regret getting this one!

Another good story by Lisa Jackson. Detectives Bentz and Montoya of New Orleans have bodies piling up as a serial killer stalks the streets of New Orleans. They are all connected through a twenty year old murder, a long closed hospital, palindromes, and DNA!

If you like Lisa Jackson then you will love this audio cd. This was the first book that I have listened to and I can say that this book kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end. It is truly a Pulse-Pounding Novel of Madness, Deceit, and Twisted Revenge. This was my first read of Lisa Jackson and I will say that I will be reading more of her. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes listening to something that will definently keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next.

For the past three months, Eve Renner has struggled to remember the night she was nearly killed and her lover was tried for murder. She remembers getting the anxious call from a friend from her past: "Meet me at the cabin. I've got evidence" She remembers seeing that friend lying in a pool of blook. And she remembers a horrifying glimpse of her lover Cole Dennis's face as a gunshot plunged her into darkness. Now, her memory and emotions scarred. Eve has returned to New Orleans to forget the past. But the past will not be forgotten. Eve's shattered memory has helped Cole walk on murder charges just as a new series of killings begins. The lasest murders are bizarre and baffling. The victims are killed in a ritual fashion, a series of numbers tattooed into their bodies. 212,101,111,323. There is no clue to their meaning, no connection to the victims except once: Our Lady of Vitures Hospital, the crumbling old asylum that was once the scene of unspeakable madness. For Eve, it was a second home as a child. Her father was a doctor there, and she spent hours exploring its secret chambers, hidden rooms, and forbidden passageways. Somewhere in its decaying rooms lied the key to a terrible crime, a betrayal beyond imaging, whose echos are now being felt with a vengence-a c rime that seems to lead to Eve herself. And the only man she can trust with the search is Cole, her former lover and just possibly, a cold blooded killer.

I was not overly impressed with this book. The story was good, but the book had some obvious contradictions (or poor editing?) The ending was not believable because it was Kristi, if it had been Olivia I would have understood it.
