This is good reading! There's so much I enjoyed. I thought I knew what was going on but nothing is what it appears to be. It's a twisty tale with surprises. It was interesting to read as the events played out in the beginning of the lockdown we all experienced but from the perspective of another country as this takes place in Ireland. It goes from finding a dead body in an apartment and then takes us to the events that led to it. It's very well done! I will be looking for more by this author!

56 days ago Clara and Oliver met in a supermarket in Dublin. Oliver suggests they move in together since there is a Covid19 lockdown. It's a chance for him to hide away. Detectives discover a decomposing body. One of them is dead. Lockdown is an opportunity for the perfect crime. This was my first book set during the pandemic. It was a bit surreal to relive all the anxiety. A twisty plot kept me guessing and made for a real page-turner. Both characters have secrets. The story switches from present to past and back again. The ending was a surprise to me that I did not see coming. This was my first Catherine Ryan Howard book but won't be my last.

A budding romance told in reverse that turns deliciously murky fast with all its secrets and surprising twists. Most intriguing is what are Ciara (pronounced Kee-rah) and Oliver hiding from each other? This low-key thriller kept me guessing and glued to the pages. Reveals are absolute doozies. Great read! 4 stars.

After turning the last page of 56 Days, I wish I hadn't bothered. For me, the most interesting parts of the book were its synopsis and the Irish response to Covid. Neither Ciara nor Oliver was particularly likable (or even interesting) and the constant switching back and forth in the various timelines only served to give me a headache; they did nothing to build suspense. It wasn't long before I had a mental roadmap of each plot twist, and I freely admit to speed reading through at least half the book to see if my mental map was correct.

It was.

Ah well... onward!

Quick who done it book - twist was a little bit of a stetch
