  News From Our Mother

I spin around to make a day and a night
So you can work, play and sleep
I travel long distances to make the seasons
So you can have different and predictable experiences
I am surrounded by an envelope
That lets in just enough sun to warm you
But not enough to burn you

I have many children of many different kinds
Who all make their way in the world however they can
Most of them take what they need and leave the rest
And once upon a time it all balanced out eventually

That is not true anymore
One group of my children has become greedy
Now I think balancing out eventually
Is a thing of the past
This group seems to think
That I will provide for them forever
Regardless of what they do
I do not think they realize
That I will go on no matter what they do
But I may not welcome them anymore
