FROM ANOTHER PLANET I’m feeling just like Ford Prefect* Who also came from another planet With a civilization far more advanced Than this pathetic planet’s primitive excuse He hitchhiked around the galaxy with only a towel Then somehow got stuck on Earth A calamity! I miss so many things about my planet Quintuvvik Our laughing languages, fanciful facial fluff, jelly jewelry Our artful comedians and comical artists Our nerdy scientists and sciency nerds Our sensory celebrations and preposterous palindrome readings The galloping gamolas and crystal-clear caloopsies Flying through the air The people here are so perplexing and exhausting Boring or sociopathic most of the time, But once in a while, just often enough to get my hopes up They exhibit a baffling sort of soaring brilliance What to do? Every night I scan the sky just like Ford Hoping for my rescue rocket *character in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams |
