In my opinion this novel is absolutely not worth the fuss being made about it. When a book has a difficult-to-believe plot, the author's prose needs to be good enough to build a world in which this decidedly bizarre activity seems actually possible. I don't think Ms. Flynn has the skill for that. If you want to read psychological thrillers, there are a variety of far better ones to choose: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, The Collector or The Magus by John Fowles, The Killer Inside Me by Jim Thompson, anything by Patricia Highsmith or Dennis Lehane.
