I read his Soul Stories and really enjoyed it, so it was with pleasure I sat down with this book. The premise seemed good--a story to start the day off right. I was a bit taken aback by the heavy Biblical aspect(as I didn't remember Soul Stories being so in your face about it), but all right, there's a lot of good quotes in the Christian scripture.
I read the first one. Then the second. I know the intent is to do them one day but I read a few just to see. Then I put the book down. Most of those I read were nothing I saw to start my day off right. Some were downright boastful on his part. Others incredibly preachy. I didn't see a lot of value in what I was reading, so I stopped.
The next book I picked off the shelf was Creative Brooding, a much older book . To my surprise it turned out to be very similar to this--but with the intent to make one think rather than to be Up Up Up. Same heavy Christian tone (ends each day's reading with verses and a prayer, not just a little verse). That book I'm continuing to read in little pieces. Much better chosen pieces. Not any more of a "downer" than this one either, and a lot more useful. I much recommend it over this one.
