In the 10+ years I've been a member of the book club at my local library, we've read all kinds of books, but never a steamy novel until last month! It was great fun for us to discuss Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. Before I started reading, Goodreads reviewers told me this novel is spicy and 2) it has great mental health representation. Both are true.

Yasmen and Josiah have been through a lot, and unfortunately their marriage didn't survive. But they're involved in each others' lives as they co-parent their son and daughter and run a busy restaurant together. Both are working to move on with their lives, but attraction and history keep drawing them together.

This story is intense many ways: in loss and grief, in benefits of therapy and counseling, and in sexual tensions and relations. The emotions are big throughout. Although this is classified as women's fiction, it has some romance tropes but incorporates them in fresh and believable ways. And there's lots of talk about delicious food and a couple of recipes are included.

The second novel in the Skyland series is titled This Could Be Us. It's scheduled to release March 2024 and will feature Yasmen's friend Soledad. Sign me up for more of this!
