I am reviewing this book only to warn readers.

This is perhaps the worst historical novel I have ever read. To save future readers torment I have literally thrown it in the trash.

I am not a quitter; rarely will I stop a reading a book even when it is dull. I am hopeful, you see, that the author has deliberately used dull or mundane passages in order to contrast dramatically the climax of the story. I have read books that redeem themselves with a wonderful ending. Even when the plot of this book began to echo the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, with Union gold instead of buried treasure, I was hopeful. Unfortunately that prison scene only marked the crest of the hill and the rest was downhill to underground. The setting is pre and post Civil War era, however, the post era lacks for historical references that it seems like a contemporary romp. Overall, he book appears to be mostly about the sexual escapades of the main characters loosely wrapped in a mediocre historical veneer.

I, for one, will seriously hesitate and research reviews before giving this author another chance.

So readers, please note, you have been warned.
