This is a different type of Western with the main character having to reevaluate his life after eight years of stalking murderers and searching for the man who killed his father (who was also a US Marshal). When Robert âDentâ Hernandez makes a mistake by taking his eyes off of one of his prisoners, that prisoner accidentally kills the town's sheriff. As punishment for this lapse, the judge makes Dent become the temporary sheriff of Evergreen, Wyoming (until a new sheriff can be found).

This is a brutal punishment to someone who is hell-bent on eradicating the criminal population in his territory. That is because nothing ever happens in Evergreen.

This book was so wonderful that I read it in one sitting, because I could not put it aside. Overall rating = E.
