I have read all the popular books on how to decorate your home as well as some books on interior decorating intended for professional use. Lauri Ward's books are by far the very, very best. She tells us she will share the professional decorators secrets they dont want us to know, and she does!

If you are looking for a book with pristine photos to copy, this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for the simple formulas for how to obtain the best look for your home using what you have, Home Therapy and Use What you have Decorating are the books for you.

I frankly read her first book, Use What you Have Decorating, first. If you have not read that book, this book might bother you a little because you may not have the understanding I was afforded. The book is so on target with what people really want today that I wouldn't let the fact that I hadn't read the first book by Ms Ward stop me!

The book is definitely a "keeper," and I wouldn't think to put it back out for trade. Using the decorating rules she provides I will be able to decorate my own home in the contemporary style I prefer and my daughter's home in the traditional style she prefers. The rules are the same for any style of decorating country, contemporary, traditional, or eclectic.

I have always been excited about decorating, but never as excited as I was once I read these books!
