Book Review of The Year of Yes

The Year of Yes
reviewed on

I was excited to read this book but it wasn't good at all. The author was 20/21 years old when she did her Year of Yes and it shows. I was expecting a more mature look at finding love and it was just a very typical college girls quest for romance. Many, many times in the book Headley delves off into a different topic entirely and reading it was frustrating at times. I found myself being forced to finish it, rather than reading it for pleasure. There are a lot of loose ends in the book that are never tied up. Especially frustrating in the last 5-10 pages of the book when new information was introduced and never explained. And then the book just ended with some flowery language, but it was a very abrupt ending for such a long narrative. I won't read it again and wouldn't recommend it to others.
