Teenager Isabelle Coleman has gone missing. Everyone in the small Pennsylvania town of Denton is looking for her. Well...everyone except Detective Josie Quinn. She is currently suspended from duty for using excessive force. It is driving Josie crazy that she can't help with Isabelle's case; so, when information falls into her lap and the police don't seem interested in it, Josie begins her own investigation into Isabelle's disappearance along with the reappearance of a girl who had been found after a year in captivity.
This is the first book in the Detective Josie Quinn series. I couldn't put it down. Lisa Regan has written a gritty, fast-paced story. The characters are well developed and just jump off the page. Josie has a lot of problems in her personal life which seem to drive her to keep working. She is stunned by the betrayal of her soon-to-be ex-husband Ray. He still hasn't signed the divorce papers. And she is engaged to a Pennsylvania State Policeman Luke Creighton; but isn't sure if she is ready to commit to another relationship. Working on the case enables her to forget what a mess her personal life has become.
This book kept me guessing until the end. I'm ready to go on to the next book in the series. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
