I think the best parts of the story were the outrageous and laugh-out-loud rumors Imogene spread about Perry. I had a hard time believing their sudden mutual attraction considering their antagonistic childhood acquaintance. Because of this animosity, Imogene's mean streak certainly got the better of her as she set out to make things extremely difficult for Perry as he struggled with his newly lowered social status--from duke to disinherited bastard who's suddenly desperate for an heiress to marry. Perry's immaturity and privileged attitude rather spoils the romantic hero image, so it's hard to feel sorry for him. However, watching them iron out grudges and misunderstandings in between passionate interludes will be fun for those who enjoy enemies-to-lovers tropes. 3.5 stars.
